I'm not happy about this news either, but blaming the government? Please. An article I just read said that people using Best Buy stores as a showroom for Amazon (and the fact that Amazon doesn't charge sales tax...yet) is at least part of the problem.
Won't it be great when the only places people have left to shop at is Walmart, Target, and Amazon? ![]()

I think that it's funny that people are running around like Best Buy is imploding. This has been planned for a while. Best Buy is changing with the times and is working at getting away from the Big Box format to a smaller and more focussed format similar to the mobile stores. Look at the news releases from last year and before and you'll have seen this coming.
Times are changing and Best Buy is changing with them. It's either that, or stay in a format that people are slowly moving away from.
Again, this is nothing that hasn't been expected from last year even though the media is hyping it up since it is one of the largest electronics retailers in the country. But who actually expects the media to do their background research in this? Expect more as Best Buy works at lowering the size of their stores and begins to transition away from the Big Box.

Thanks for the info Mbrguy, I'm a bit calmer now. I can quit going outside to see if the sky is falling. ![]()
I actually wasn't planning to discuss it until I knew more about the situation (I suspected restructuring), but...blaming the government? Wow. Things like high gas prices and people losing their jobs are not good for any administration.
I think I understand what Best Buy is doing, and why, but I hope Store 21 isn't on the cut list. Nice store, great employees.
