Best Buy's customer service is the worst I have ever seen!!

I made a purchase on-line with a prepaid debit card, and now, for the third time, I have been charged again for the same order. The first time they charged me again, I spent 3 days on the phone, getting the same message: "Due to high volume of calls, our customer service can not take your call. Call back later.", then the call is disconnected! Over and Over again this happens! I now, have been charged a third time for the same order. Thanks to that, there isn't enough money in the account to cover a personnalized Valentine's Day present I ordered for my wife. Now by the time this gets straightened out, the present won't be here in time for Valentine's Day. Thanks Best Buy for your Terrible Customer Service and for ruining a Valentine's Day for both me and my wife!

Re: Best Buy's customer service is the worst I have ever seen!!

This is the private message I was sent:

Hello warpeddude,

Whenever an order is placed on BestBuy.com, a hold may be placed on the paying debit/credit card for the order total.  These funds aren’t collected until the order has been fulfilled, but this may have an effect on your available credit line in the interim.  These holds are also temporary in nature, so they must be renewed periodically (typically every 7-8 calendar days).  It’s then the responsibility of the card’s issuing bank to ensure that any expired authorizations are removed from the customer’s account.  Most banks are able to do so within 2-5 business days, but some may require up to one full billing cycle.

That being said, I’ve had the chance to review your order and can confirm that the duplicate amounts you are seeing on your account are authorization renewals.  If you have not already done so, I’d encourage you to contact the customer service hotline listed on the back of your card for additional information.  I have confidence that a support rep will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding your account, as well as provide an overview of their processing times.

Re: Best Buy's customer service is the worst I have ever seen!!

This is the private message I sent back:

Dear Aaron, I have talked to my DEBIT card and anytime you send a "authorization renewal" to them, they have no way of knowing it's not a new charge. Every time you send a "renewal" it ties up that money where it can't be used. Why is it that I have pre-ordered from many other sites and you are the only one that sends "authorization renewals"! This is a bogus practice! In fact, I just pre-ordered something with my wife on our credit card and once the charge has cleared, they don't send out "renewals"! I purchased a item that was backordered, I was not charged until the item was in and ready to be shipped. What? Is your billing department so incompetent that they can't keep track of a simple order, charge for it, and then ship it out when it comes in? That doesn't bode well for your company! I think if I were you, I would be worried about my paycheck

Who else can not get customer service on the phone?

I originally place an "pre-order" with Bestbuy.com. Checking my debit card online I see the pending charge for my order. I get an email daily with my debit card balance. 2 weeks later I notice a drop in my debit balance. Now there is 2 pending charges from Bestbuy.com. What?? So, I spend 3 days trying to get customer service on the phone. Finally, I get someone on the phone and they fixed the problem ( taking another 2 days to go back on my card). Now, being these are pending charges, that money is inaccessible to me. Well, here we are, almost a month after I first placed my order. Guess what, another pending charge for the same order. Well, this time, it really screwed me! I had placed an order for a personalized Valentine's Day present for my wife, and now there isn't enough money on the debit card to cover it. So, needless to say, my wife's present will not get here in time for Valentine's Day. I finally get through to customer service, after only 2 days of trying and I'm told that the extra charge will be taken off. Gee, thanks, but now, how does that get my wife's present here on time? I have never been treated so poorly and never had to spend this crazy amount of time on the phone just to get a chance to talk to customer service. If you need to contact customer support by phone, you would have more luck nailing jello to a tree.

Re: Who else can not get customer service on the phone?

What?? Again??

Now for the 4th time I have been charged for the same order!!

Best Buy can try to justify this, but it is just poor business practice.

Plus, what I can only guess as a billing department that is so totally incompetent that they can't charge you just once for an order and then when the item comes in, send it out.

If you were to believe what I was previously told, they have to send reminders to themselves and your credit/debit card company to fill the order when the item becomes in stock.

I will be cancelling my order and will be posting anywhere I can to let others know how Best Buy does business and I am sure that the Better Business Bureau will find it interesting as well!!
