While looking through this forum, I'm seeing that this is a common problem. But I also see that people get responded to pretty quickly on here, so I'm optimistic.
My story's as follows: went to use my iTunes Gift Card, got the invalid message; contacted Apple, they said that it was purchased on 12/27/2007, cancelled by Best Buy, and that's as far as their help goes.
Not sure what the next step is, but I appreciate the time and help!! :-)

Hello lalaoh3,
Sorry to read that you have an invalid iTunes gift card, I will be happy to see what I can do for you.
Now, you say that this gift card was purchased back in 2007. Was it you who made the purchase or was it a gift?
Look forward to working with you.

Thank you for getting back to me! I received the card as a gift.

Today, I discovered that I have the same problem. I scratched the seal off a $15 itunes gift card from Best Buy, and it said it had been cancelled. I received this card from my Best Buy Rewards program. Part of the reason I purchase larger items at Best Buy is because of the Rewards program...if it turns out that the rewards aren't redeemable, I'd definitely be more likely to make my purchases elsewhere. Any assistance you can provide would be much appreciated - thanks!

Yeeeea, best of luck with trying to get this issue resolved. They gave me the runaround for weeks, so I finally just gave up.
