Why is it so difficult to get a copy of a receipt.

I purchased a carpet cleaner in 2015 that broke. Hoover will only fix it if I have proof of purchase. I tried to get a copy of my receipt at the store but they couldn't help. I call customer service and they couldn't help either. I have the credit card and I even have my credit card statement showing date of purchase and amount. Why can't it be pulled up? I am so frustrated and upset.

Re: Why is it so difficult to get a copy of a receipt.

Hi Katrin,

Welcome to the Best Buy Community forums. I know how frustrating a broken vacuum can be, and I’m sure a broken carpet cleaner is much the same. I always lose my receipts, and tracking them down can be tricky. I’m sorry we haven’t been able to locate it yet.

I’d love to try and help you find the receipt. Since you still have the credit card you used to make the purchase the easiest way to get a copy would be to head to your nearest Best Buy and have them swipe the card.  That should allow them to print a copy for you.

If you are unable to make your way to a Best Buy I can try to look up the receipt for you. To do so I’ll need some information about the purchase. Because we value your privacy, please send me this information via a private message using the link in my signature below. In that private message please include any phone number or email address that may be associated with the My Best Buy account you used when you made the purchase. Additionally, please provide the location of the store where you made the purchase, and the purchase date and price that you have from your credit card statement.

Once I have all of that information I’ll take a look and see if I can locate your receipt for you. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you,
