I have been frequenting the best buy in monrovia CA off of mountain street for more than 10 years. I moved to sierra madre more than a decade ago and I play a lot of video games and buy a lot of computer accessories. I can personally think of more than a dozen games I have purchased from the store, along with a handful of keyboards and gaming mice. Over the past decade I have easily spent more than a couple thousand dollars in that Best Buy in Monrovia store.
Less than 9 months ago, I purchased a brand new TV. I am not sure what brand it was but it was 50 inches and 1080p. When I got the tv home and took it out of the box, there was a huge break in the middle of the screen in the shape of a shoe. Somebody had obviously stepped right in the middle of the screen and broke it. I was very upset and called the manager back immediatley and rushed back down to the best buy before they closed so I could show the manager.
This is where things seem to get fishy.
When I come back, he says there are no more 50 inch 1080p TVs in the brand that I originally bought. The store manager made what I thought was a wonderful suggestion, since I was quite upset about being sold a broken TV. He offered to upgrade my 50 inch 1080p TV with a break in the middle of the screen in the shape of somebodies foot to a 55 inch 1080p insignia TV.
I am pretty sure that the 50 inch TV I bought was sony brand, and actually was more expensive than the 55 inch insignia TV that I was "upgraded" to for "free." For the first couple days I was pretty excited to have a new big TV but almost instantly I started having compatibility issues when trying to play my games on the big screen. I did a ton of research and I found out that the most likely culprit for the compatibility issues I was facing was the shoddy INSIGNIA BRAND.
Why is it that insignia is cheaper than the other brands? Because insignia is a best buy brand where they have taken parts from other TVs, slapped it together and put the best buy brand name "insignia" on it. Whatever, I was able to find work arounds to 99% of the problems I faced with this apparent frankenstein of a TV I was sold under the guise of it being a "free" "upgrade."
I am here now because this happened about 9 months ago and now my insignia brand TV has completely stopped working. The TV turns on but the screen is blank. I can hear the tv noises but see no picture.
I called the best buy to explain my situation and explore routes of solving my problem and this is where things get really weird.
I have spent more than 1000 dollars at this store over a decade mainly using my credit card and my name and information is in the system, which would mean I have definitely purchased something from the store ( I wouldnt just walk into a store and give them my personal information and not buy anything) BUT NOT ONE SINGLE PURCHASE SHOWS UP UNDER MY NAME. I have spent more than 2 hours on the phone with various best buy representatives trying to find proof of any purchases ive made at the best buy in monrovia off of mountain. Its as if my customer information has been completely deleted. Why did this happen? Most likely because the manager of the store at the time pocketed the difference between the 50inch name brand tv and the 55 inch isnignia crap brand tv and deleted all of my purchase history to cover his tracks.
This is incredibly suspicious considering the manager tricked me into a bigger TV that was actually cheaper in price than the TV I bought and the quality is absolutely crap. I will never EVER buy an insignia brand peice of electronics again. I have learned my lesson.
Unless this issue is resolved, I will not be returning to best buy as a customer either. I have a best buy brand TV sitting on my wall that I bought less than a year ago that does not work and a customer profile at the store I frequented with thousands of dollars of purchases thats been mysteriously wiped. Leaving me with a peice of crap lemon on my wall and nothing I can do about it. Please tell me this is not true. I also complained using the "send us feedback" feature on one of your best buy sites probably 2 weeks ago. No response.

It might not be possible for my history to be deleted by somebody or an individual but as a long time rewards member with your company the last time I called your 888 best buy number, no purchase history was available but my name number and previous information IS available. like I said, this is quite suspicious because I have bought dozens of games, keyboards, mice and various other hardware from that store.
No, the manager did not give me a receipt. I should have seen this as a red flag. It was a straight up exchange. I brought the original 50 inch (sony I believe) 1080p tv with the crack in the shape of a footprint in the middle of the screen back with the original box and the receipt. The manager took the broken tv, box and receipt and gave me a 55 inch insignia 1080p tv, no additional charge no questions asked. He did not even go to the register at the time of the exchange.
My name is Nate (removed per forum guidelines) in your system, actual name Nathaniel (removed per forum guidelines). My contact information has changed over the years and if you can do anything to help me my current number is (removed per forum guidelines) and I will go any length to provide information about this purchase.
I do not know the name of the manager but I do know the time at which he was working at the store and I do remember what he looks like.

No they dont have any of my new information tied to my rewards account. I recently had to replace my drivers license and credit cards due to having it stolen and also had a change of phone number all within the past year. Before that my phone number and credit card information had been the same for at least 5+ years.
When I bought the TV, it was attached to the rewards account that they still have all of the information for but mysteriously my rewards account/ profile has absolutely none of my purchase history.
I would hate to have to get the police involved in this situation but I have photographic proof of purchasing that TV from the monrovia Best Buy store (I was excited and made a post on facebook about my "amazing new tv" with a picture of me holding it outside of the store) because I know that there is security footage of me buying a 50inch TV, returning with the 50inch TV within an hour, showing the manager the footprint break in the middle of the screen and that manager giving me a 55inch insignia TV without ever giving me a receipt or taking me to a register.

Choosing a correct TV can be time consuming, and it’s discouraging to hear your initial choice needed to be returned to your local Monrovia Best Buy due to some damage.
Insignia is indeed the Best Buy brand, however, depending on the model number and series it could’ve been a comparable TV. I’d be happy to see how I can help you locate your purchase, and exchange purchase receipts. It’s disheartening to hear upon calling into 1-888-BESTBUY they couldn’t locate it for you.
Like Chris31876 provided we’re unable to delete individual’s purchases, or history of their membership. I apologize that you may believe manager did so at your local Monrovia Best Buy.
I’d be happy to see how I may be able to assist you with this dilemma. Can you please send me a private message with your name, phone number, email address, and plus any previous information you may have registered with your My Best Buy Membership? You can send me a private message by selecting to do so next to my signature at the bottom.
