Order status changed to "out of stock, what now?

To whom it may concern,

Basically, I traded in some old camera gear and used the credit to pay for a new camera that I am supposedly going to pick up in about a week (or so the register screen showed me). I get home and review my order online only to find that my order status has been changed to "out of stock".

Now, is my order stuck in limbo? Or am I actually going to get the item I paid for on the estimated arrival date that I was given? I'm concerned because I am without the equipment I traded in and don't know when my order is coming in. Can I have some assistance on the matter please?

Trading in some of your old camera equipment is a great way to help with the cost of getting a newer one. It’s discouraging to hear the item you purchased is now out of stock; which may spark some concerns about your purchase. 

 

Best Buy attempts to fulfill all orders within the “get it by” date provided during check-out. If there was a change to your expected “get it by” date you would’ve been notified via email with a reason. Using the information you provided upon joining our community I wasn’t able to locate your purchase for you to take a peek.

 

Can you please send me your order number in a private message? I’d be happy to take a look at your order to see what options may be available at this time. You can send me one by choosing the option next to my signature.

Thanks for the reply, I sent you my order info, please let me know if you need anything else to be able to find my order.  Not sure if this makes my situation better or worse, but my order status has changed from "out of stock" to "backordered" as of this morning.  I'm hoping this means that there's progress being made with my item(s)? 

If not, is there any way to prevent my order from being canceled?

Thank you for providing me your order number privately so I could take look for you, and provide some more insight into this matter.

 

Purchases can stay in a backordered status for 6 weeks while inventory is being expected. It appears on my end your order may be in the process of cancelling. This may mean we aren’t expecting to be able to get the inventory needed to fulfill your order within that time-frame. I apologize for the inconvenience, or frustration your purchase may be causing you.

 

I highly recommend visiting your local Best Buy to discuss your order. They’d be able to assist you with locating an alternative item that still fits your needs in the event your order does indeed cancel. Moving forward there wouldn’t be a way to prevent your order from canceling if that’s what is scheduled to occur.

Good morning, I read up online that best buy doesn't charge my credit card unless the item is shipped, and found out this morning that my best buy card was charged, so now I'm more confused on whether my item is going to be canceled or is on the way to my local store?

Hello kenak234, 

 

The purchase you made was in-store for delivery at a later date using BestBuy.com inventory to fulfill the purchase this changes how the payment is collected. 

 

Since you purchased in-store that's why your card has been charged. Typically if you purchase on BestBuy.com using your online purchasing profile,and provided BBY01- order number you'd be charged when your items ships.

Ah I understand. Thanks for the info, I haven't gotten any emails with any new estimated arrival dates, so I guess I'll check in with customer service for updates and return here soon.
