Duplicate Payment..need help to refund.

Hi,

 
Yesterday, I was in Alpharetta Best Buy Store and at 1.45 PM.
 
I was in rush to catch flight to need to buys an Ipad. When i bought the store keeper first swiped the machine showed as authorised and the machine got stuck after approving my transaction.
 
Then the store keeper asked to swipe again in other machine and the transaction went well and I got the receipt .
 
But t when I reached Costa rica and check my balance. My money was dedcuted twice form my account.
 
At first attempt also the money got deducted, I asked the store keepr he said since receipt didnt come the money wnt get dedcuted and hence i swiped again
 
But now i see the balance and my money is dedcued the first time even
 
Need help in recovering the money. I can giev all the details needed.

Those transactions require signatures if it's a large dollar amount. If the signature does not take place, they can't collect that amount due to lack of signature.This is in the card agreement for most card companies.

 

Also as card holder signatures and dollar amount policies change I've noticed that lower dollar amounts don't require a signature to simplify the customer experience and finalizing the transactions signifies acceptance of the cardholder terms.

 

If the money is not returned to your account in accordance with how authorizations are handled on your credit card, you may wish to seek further assistance in order to get this resolved.

 

You may also wish to seek the assistance of a Best Buy staff member who will try to respond to your post when they can, but they are finalizing the responses on the 2016 Holiday shopping season so there may be a delay in response.

The transaction which was duplicated showed as authorised and then asked for signature. After i did sign the machine got stuck and no reeipt was generated.Upon which the cashier shutdown the machine and asked me to swipe again in another machine.

 

But to my mis fortune nthe money was dedcuted from my debit card at first instanace.

Just wait for the authorization to fall off. It probably just shows pending on your account but it should just disappear. The trans would have been voided by that terminal being shut down without completing. Your money probably will show up within the next few days.

Again, they did not take your money, Google credit card authorizations to learn more. If you need your money faster, talk to your bank,

HI,

I had a debit card and the money got deducted from my Debit card.

I will wait till Monday to check reversal.

Hello aabhi2251,

 

Welcome to the forum. When making purchases at the airport people are usually in a hurry, and I can imagine this lends itself to errors in purchases. I'm sorry to hear you discovered 2 charges for an iPad on your credit card.

 

As hockeycanuckjc mentioned, for large purchases there should be a signature required for the transaction to be valid. I suggest contacting your bank to dispute the charge that should not have been processed.
