protection plan. scam ?

after purchasing a protection plan for 109.99 for an ipod touch 5th generation. the sales woman told me that best buy was doing something new. the protection plan was 59.99 BUT for 50 dollars more i could add two years to the plan for a total of 4 years. well low and behold after taking it in to be looked at my plan is expired. after talking to an online employee i was told it must have been a PREMIUM plan, and that best buy doesnt have a plan for 109.99. sounds to me like someone skimmed some money for themselves.

It’s a bit disheartening to hear that you were given misinformation, I can attest 1st hand that the plans had previously been offered. The exact level of coverage offered on iPods has changed many times over the years. In fact, we changed from Geek Squad Protection to AppleCare on most Apple products a few years back. When it was Geek Squad Protection, we did have a plan for $109. I purchased an iPod Touch 5th gen as well, and that plan was the one I purchased as well.

I appreciate you letting us know about this situation. Having a Geek Squad Protection Plan to cover your purchases is supposed to make these types of situations simple and we always expect our employees, from top to bottom, to conduct themselves as professional as possible in every situation. I would just as upset if this happened to me.

 

Though jdogg836 is correct regarding changes being made throughout the years to these plans, I’d love to look into this further for you.
