Would you be okay with this???

June 12th the LG fridge UNDER WARRANTY breaks down. 19 days later the repair man comes. He says "I need to order parts". Of course he does. Next appointment is 14 days later. July 13. The appointment is for tomorrow morning. Just got a call - the parts come in in the afternoon. Of course they do. Next available appointment is in 13 more days. July 26th. As a math teacher I do not need to do the math on this one. LG will never be in my home again. I will not do business with any state that carries LG. They do not stand behind their product. And BEST BUY will do nothing. They do not stand behind their customers. They have lost my business as well. When I read the posts on LG...mine is not a unique story.

Re: Would you be okay with this???

Hello Tammykk63,

Welcome to the Best Buy Community forums.  I had a refrigerator stop working on me a few years back, and getting a replacement was an ordeal, so I understand how frustrated you must be with your situation especially with it taking over a month to get a repair.

Using the information in your post and in your forum registration I wasn’t able to find a record of any service on a refrigerator through us. Based on that, it looks to me like you are going directly through LG’s manufacturer’s warranty for your repair, and that you do not have a Geek Squad Protection plan on your appliance.

Without a Geek Squad Protection plan, Best Buy wouldn’t be able to assist you with your fridge outside of the return period specified in our Return & Exchange Promise. If you do have a Geek Squad Protection plan, please send me a private message with the plan details as well as any order numbers for your repair order and I’ll see if there’s anything I can do to help you get your repair completed faster. I’d love to help you out if I can.

If you have any additional questions or concerns please let me know.

Sincerely,

Re: Would you be okay with this???

See - I find that very interesting that Best Buy won't help because I didn't buy the extra warranty. I paid $2700 for a fridge that broke and is still under warranty through the manufacturer. Best Buy had no issues taking my $7000 when we bought the whole set. But will do nothing to help resolve an issue I have with the manufacturer. So...you only help the customers that buy the extra warranty. Not the ones that spend $7000. Nice. As I said before...Best Buy doesn't stand behind their customers - oh - unless you pay extra. And when we called, the geek squad won't service the LG either because it is a sealed system leak. Your salesman know the issues with LG yet don't share that with their customers. In the past, I have always bought my electronics with Best Buy. That is no longer. Best Buy has lost my business and I will be sure to share my story with all that will listen.

Re: Would you be okay with this???

Hi again Tammykk63,

Regrettably without a Geek Squad Protection plan we would not be able to provide you with service on your refrigerator.

I’d suggest getting back in touch with LG to see if they can provide you with any alternate solutions for your situation. I would suggest giving them a call at 1-800-243-000 between 7 AM and midnight Central time to discuss this with them.

Alternatively, if you have a Twitter account, you can tweet at LG at @LGUS for support. They seem to be very responsive on Twitter, and I hope that they are able to get your repair accelerated.

Sincerely,

Re: Would you be okay with this???

And it just kills me that you are willing to hide behind an extended warranty. You should be outraged that one of your customers has been without a fridge for almost two months. A 2700 fridge that is a year old. What about your moral and ethical duties to the consumer? I guess Best Buy feels that it is a big enough corporation that they do not have to do the right thing. And you work for them. Spouting the prescribed rhetoric. How about being a decent human being? We are still paying on this fridge. That doesn't work. And sits in the garage. But again. That's not good for business. Hide behind your warranty. I hope it helps you sleep at night. If you have something productive to say - respond. If it's the same rhetoric...keep it. I am moving on. Bought a new fridge. NOT from Best Buy. I'm sick of giving you the power to stress out my summer. Peace Kyle.
