I just purchased an Asus open box laptop this past weekend. I am totally satisfied with the laptop itself. I asked before buying what the warranty was on an open box and was told that it came with a 1 year warranty from the manufacturer.
Today, I called Asus and was told the warranty expires on October 25, 2018. They said it was based on the serial number of the laptop, which is common these days.
So, my question is how will the warranty be handled after October 25th? Can Best Buy get Asus to extend the warranty or will Best Buy handle the warranty after the 25th? I am not talking about an extended warranty but just the included 1 year warranty.
Thanks for helping out.

It's True that it comes with one year warranty. Asus has no way of knowing whether the item was first purchased at bestbuy, and than it was return. After October 25th - All you will have to do is take it back to BestBuy Geek Squad, and they will send it to their service center to get it repaird. Also a good idea is to Take it to Geek Squad, and have them double check in their system to make sure that you have 1 year warranty. Always be careful and cautious when its comes to warranty. As you know - limited hardware is covered. Hope that helps!

Good Afternoon BigCTM,
Snagging a laptop at an open-box price may allow you to splurge a bit more, and get more computer while staying within your budget. Thank you for choosing Best Buy for your purchase. Warranties are very important, and I understand that you may have a couple of questions so you know what to do in a what-if situation. I apologize for our delayed response, but I’d be happy to help you answer your questions at this time.
As noted in our Outlet Buying Guide open-box products should be covered under warranty, but some exceptions may apply. I’m sorry if you were led to believe your product would have a full one-year manufacturer’s warranty. Depending on the manufacturer this may not be the case. As saadjaved12 had shared usually Geek Squad would be happy to service the unit during the remaining warranty period per the manufacturer’s specifications. Please let us know if you run into this problem in the future, and we’d be happy to help you wade through the options that may be available for further assistance.
