Not honoring service plan

I bought a tv about 4 years ago with a 5 year warranty. Now I am having problems with the tv and I went to see bestbuy about it but there records say I bought a totally different tv-different brand and size! I've spent hours at the store, hours on the phone, and have been communicating via email with one on the store managers to which he promised to help me and now will not respond to any of my emails. This is making me want to never shop there again. Maybe amazon is the way to go! I have no idea what to do next.

Re: Not honoring service plan

Just bring them the receipt showing your service plan and TV purchase. The service plan purchase should show the TV sku on it so you can prove you purchased the plan for that TV.

Re: Not honoring service plan

So I purchased an LG 55", but they are saying the codes on the receipt indicate Panasonic 42". It was a no box, display tv. Looking at the receipt I can't tell because it does not say say LG or Panasonic. When I purchased it it showed the right cost charged, I assumed the code would be for my TV. I know what TV I bought and I've never owned a Panasonic TV. I suggested they check there inventory that year for my TV, and bestbuy said they would just cross it out because they have discrepancies all the time. I've offered to bring in the tv but they said that would not help. Basically they are saying there's no way to confirm my claim. This seems completely unfair to me the customer. I've done nothing wrong- where's the customer service? No one is even trying to help!

Re: Not honoring service plan

Good morning BenAlen,

One of the benefits of having a Geek Squad Protection Plan (GSP) is making sure if you’re having issues with your TV after the manufacturer’s warranty has ended, you’re still protected. It’s disappointing to hear there may be some issues with the GSP on your TV, but I’m glad you’ve come to us for further assistance.

I’m not seeing any GSPs under your account with the information you’ve provided, so in order to investigate this further, I’ll need some additional information from you. If you could send me a private message with the following:

  • Your first and last name

  • Your phone number

  • Your email address that may be linked to your GSP

  • The “Customer Service PIN” located at the bottom of your receipt

This should be enough information for me to start looking into this for you. To send me a private message, you’ll want to use the blue “Private Message” button in my signature.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Re: Not honoring service plan

Absolutely no help. Bestbuy treats me as if I am making this up and as if I am a crook. If they only knew who I actually am. They are not going to honor their mistake or warranty. I am taking other actions to fight this. And as for future purchases; Amazon here I come.

Did you get the receipt?

Re: Not honoring service plan

I do have a copy of the receipt. It is coded with numbers and letters, it does not say LG or Panasonic. The price on the receipt was correct, I did not try at the time to decipher the rest. I assumed it would be accurate.

Re: Not honoring service plan

Welcome back BenAlen,

As I’ve mentioned during our earlier correspondence, the receipt and GSP you’ve provided is for a 42” Panasonic TV. As we are unable to verify the purchase of a 55” LG TV and GSP tied to your information, we are unable to service your LG TV with a GSP that is for a 42” Panasonic TV. Per the terms and conditions of our GSPs, you are responsible for providing proof of purchase for the product and GSP. If you’re able to provide those to us, we’ll be happy to assist you in servicing your LG TV.

Respectfully,

Re: Not honoring service plan

To all readers, know that in their terms and conditions they are allowed to delete post that they feel aren't friendly! My posts have been deleted! As I feel they are treating me horribly and have ripped me off you can imagine I'm not very happy, and I don't have the nicest things to say. As you see in the post above they are saying that my receipt in which they gave me will not cover the TV I actually purchased because of their employees mistake! I have never had this problem with my purchases from Amazon, and in fact their return policy is amazing.
