Insurance Plan.....Very Angry!

I have been a cell phone customer for over 6 yrs! I have alway purchased the best buy insurance plan. Back in July, 2015 it was time to purchase new cell phones. I also renewed the insurance plans. For $7 per month my phones were insured. If something went wrong I brought it in a nd it was sent in to be fix or a new refurbished phone was issued. I always asked if anything in the plan has changed. Last contract we had to pay a deposit for a loner phone of $50. When the phone was back from repairs the deposit was returned. I was told everything was the same. Today I needed to have a repair done on my son's phone. I was told that I had to pay a $150 deductible. When questing this I was told it went into effect last yr, spring 2016. I t is for all policies! This is crap! My insurance plan should not change until my contract is up. Just like any insurance plan. If I buy car insurance, they dont change my deductible 3 months later! I was told that there is Nothing that can be done, there was no "grandfather " clause. I need this taken care of or I will be making a huge stink on social media, at the store, and to everyone I know! Not to mention I will be calling the Better Business Bureau- I don't see how thia is legal!

Re: Insurance Plan.....Very Angry!

Hello Pgerke,

Thank you for taking time out of your day to share your concerns over your Geek Squad Protection Plans for your mobile phones, and for joining our Community.

Having a protection plan on your phone is important as it’s always on the go with us. Geek Squad Protection Plans do go through a series of updates periodically, and I apologize a deductible may not have been mentioned to you when you purchased the new plans in 2015.

Please know according to the terms you agreed at that time of purchasing it does state a replacement fee may apply. I apologize that the way Geek Squad services phones may have changed in last few years, and they’ve decided to pursue a different option within terms agreed upon to help. You’re more than welcome to review terms you agreed to here.

I’d be happy to answer any additional questions you have.
