Insignia tv

I purchased a 32 inch insignia tv a few years ago.  I cant locate this order on my purchase history at all.  Just recent purchases show up.  I am having a problem with this TV where the Insignia menu and black box in right hand corner flases on and off screen for quite awhile.  It is very annoying.  I contacted Insignia and they sent me a new remote.  That has NOT corrected the problem.  Then they told me it is probably the IR sensor and would have to be taken to a repair shop or best buys buy back program.  I would think that these TV's would last longer than a few years and have no idea who works on these new TV's anymore.  I have read reviews on this issue and most state Best buy tells them they are "disposable' tvs and just get a new one.  I'm not in a position to buy a TV every couple years and I just purchased another Insignia TV for another room a month ago.  It better not happen to that one.  This is truly annoying that nobody stands by their products anymore and you are offered all these warranty packages for a high price as if they know somethings going to happen so people should have these warranties.  I am furious about this issue as I just got rid of cable and installed ROKU and no can't even enjoy programs because of this flashing on the screen.  Never saw anything like it.  I won't buy from best buy ever again and hopefully the other Tv lasts longer than this one.  Limited income so dn't have the money to go buy another Tv when this is fairly new.  don't understand why this purchase is not under my name from a fe years ago as order history.  I am not a happy camper with Best buy or Insignia with these garbage tvs.  Furious is an understatement.

Re: Insignia tv

Greetings emeraldcity,

Welcome to the Best Buy Support Online Forum Community! Cutting the cord with cable is exciting, and I’m sorry to hear that your Insignia TV that’s only a couple of years old isn’t working as it should be, and it’s creating some Oz like issues. I’d be happy to help you address your concerns.

TVs are built very different now, and often times can be dated very quickly with how technology advances. Normal life expectancy of TV is roughly about 5 years. I understand being on fixed budget for the foreseeable future that’s not ideal to hear. Best Buy does offer extended warranties at competitive prices  as we do want to be there for the life of your TV. I’m sorry that opting to get one wasn’t in the budget. You’re more than welcome to visit your local Best Buy with your TV since it’s under 42”. The Wizard (Geek Squad) would be happy to see what the issue is, and make a recommendation for you.  You can schedule an appointment with them here. I appreciate the time you’ve share your frustration with us, and feedback.

Respectfully,

Re: Insignia tv

I have also contacted Insignia and they sent me a new remote. It did not solve the issue.  They said it could be the IR Sensor.  I have no idea how that can be fixed or what the cost would be.  If a sensor doesn't last more than a couple years or these TV's , the manufacturer should make people aware of that.  Pretty sad that you invest in a TV and they only last about 5 years.  That's disturbing.  I know friends that have had tv's for years and not one problem.  What is the price of an extended warranty and what does it cover?  I have a leg disability so bringing the tv into stores for help is a bit awkward for me to carry.  Not gonna risk it being broken in transport.  I also would like to know why it doesn't show a record of this purchase on my account?

Re: Insignia tv

Greetings emeraldcity,

Thank you for follow up questions. I’d be happy to help you answer them. You’re more than welcome to review what our Geek Squad Protection Plan covers here for TV’s. Depending on the price point of your TV, and the length of the plan you choose it will determine the cost of the plan. You’re welcome review the pricing of the plans on BestBuy.com in the cart after you’ve chosen a TV. Using the details you shared upon joining our forum community I was able to locate your most recent purchase. It does appear that you’re outside of Return & Exchange Promise so adding the plan isn’t an option at this time. Purchases more than 18 months old will most likely be archived, and will not show up on your purchase history. I apologize that I didn’t mention this earlier in our conversation.

Re: Insignia tv

So basically I am screwed with the problem with this tv?  I am not a happy camper.  I did some research on LED tv's and  they should last a lot longer than a few years.  If the sensor is the problem, it should be repaired.  It's pretty crazy to have purchased 2 Insigia TV's from your store and one that is a few years old has an issue that is not the customer's fault, (defective sensor) and nobody can help.  All these products you sell, have huge charges for warranties.  I also bought a washer/dryer and the charges for warranty plans was outrageous.  People shop because you have low prices and then you hit them with all extra charges for warranties on top of the price you charge.  How is that cost effective for the consumer?  I am in no position now to buy another TV for my living room and this sensor issue is not my fault.  I am so dissatisfied with Insignia and Best buy.  It's just wrong to the consumer.

Re: Insignia tv

rec'd an email today to pick one reply as a solution.  There has been no solution to this offered by insignia nor best buy except to purchase a new tv.  I can't do that.  Sure is alot of fun, seeing a menu pop up in middle of screen during basketball tourney and I can't see the game being played.  I will never buy any products from Best buy again.  They may have low prices but then you get hit with high warranty prices and there's always an excuse when something breaks.  Totally upset about this TV problem and the IR sensor issues.  Not a happy customer.
