I don't really know where to go with this....

but, I got some camera lenses I turned in for repair and one came back without the back cap. I looked at the paperwork for both, and they say they went with lens cap, both singular, but one came back with the back cap I sent it with. The other did not. Ironically, it's the most expensive lens I will ever own. I wanted to complain to somebody, anybody. I'm a disabled vet on a fixed income. It's unlikely I will ever be able to buy another lens that is so expensive which is why I put the best buy warranty on it in the first place. I called the number which the guy at the counter gave me, 1-800-433-5778, and after 5 call transfers I finally gave up actually speaking to someone to whom I could voice a formal complaint. Nobody I was transfered to seemed to actually deal with camera lenses and no one understood I was trying to find the department that dealt with DSLR camera lens repair. It was such a runaround, and for you guys to not really take care of my stuff just isn't acceptable. With no back cap I can imagine there is already debris on the lens which is why it was there, for a cleaning, because the best buy I picked up my lens didn't have any back nikon caps for sale. I was even willing to buy one just to make sure it would be okay. I'm done. Going to copy and post this up in other places if somebody doesn't get back to me.

While I don't know what the official response will be, I can tell you that Precision Camera does our DSLR camera repairs. When calling, maybe ask for a number to them? I know they're based out of TX, but that's about the extent of my knowledge on them. Good luck!

Thanks for joining us at the Best Buy Community forums.  I have several photographer friends, so I know how concerning it must be to have received your camera back missing the rear lens cover. We always want to return all accessories that were shipped out with a product for repair, and I apologize that it looks like we fell short here.


I’d like to take a look and see if there’s anything we can do to help you out with this. To do so I’ll need the service order number from when you sent out your camera. If you could please send me a private message, using the link in my signature below, containing that service order number I would appreciate it.  Once I have that, I’ll explore what options we may have for you.
