Filing a Complaint!

I have been a loyal customer to Bestbuy for years now and this time, I am so triggered. I purchased a laptop on June 8th, 2016 and also a 2 year protection plan from accidental damage and spills, etc. My laptop decided to not turn on yesterday so I brought it in to BestBuy to get it repaired. I brought it in store on June 7th, 2018 and they said my 2 year warranty had expired. Last time I checked, June 8, 2016-June 7, 2018 is not 2 Years. So they are false advertising a 2 year protection plan, realistically, its more like a protection plan for 1 year 364 days. I called customer service and they did nothing except transfer me through 3 people and I guess the last person didn't like me because she transferred me and I waited for over 40 minutes and was still on hold. I wasted over an hour to get this resolved. I have screenshot of my phone call log, over an hour and my original receipt with the date of purchase.

I wonder if it was because there was an extra day in 2016 since it was leap year.

Welcome to our forums, and thank you for sharing your experience with us.  Knowing how essential a laptop can be to our everyday lives, I can imagine your disappointment when your laptop was not functioning as expected. 

 

As it sounds like you’re aware, we’ll be unable to utilize your plan to repair your laptop if your Geek Squad Protection (GSP) has expired.  With that said, it sounds like there may be some confusion as to when your plan ended, and I’d like to gather some additional information from you, so we can explore what options are available to us at this time.  If you could send me a private message with the following information:

 

  • Your first and last name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • The “Customer Service PIN” located at the bottom of your receipt

 

This should be enough information for me to begin my research.  To send me this information privately, be sure to use the blue “Private Message” button in my signature.

Warranty Plan Complaint and Unresolved Still

I purchased a laptop on 6/8/2016 and GS accidental protection warranty plan for 2 years. With my bad luck, my laptop didnt turn on on 6/7/2018. I bring it to BestBuy and they claim that my warranty has expired. I contacted numerous customer service agents and emailed and they kept giving me false information. Like ohhh, it expired, check the terms and condition. AND SO I DID. And I clearly read that the warranty starts on purchase date and ends on purchase date. These backstabbing agents lied and gave me false information. I have had over an hour long call with these agents and no help.

These employeees at Best Buy have not helped me one bit and they give me false information.

And then some of the employees told me oh, it will take several weeks to get it fixed and that means that your warranty wont extend over those weeks that it will be getting repaired. That makes no sense. I brought it in before my warranty expired. If GeekSquad was so smart, you should be able to fix it in-store, no more than a day. I am so enraged and just shocked at how terrible their service and treatment was towards me.
