More advertising in stores to showcase items that are sold on BestBuy.com

Would the average consumer know that BestBuy.com sells luggage sets?
How about grills?
How about an outdoor fire pit?
How about a drum set or even a acoustic guitar?

BestBuy.com sells all these things but I doubt people know this, especially consumers shopping in the store.

My idea or suggestion would be that BB should have more advertising and signs in the store showcasing some of what is available online and maybe even having tablets or computers displaying the product so the shopper can see and potentially purchase.

What do you guys think?

This is a good idea.  It really would not take much.  It could be something as simple as  signage at the entry.  Big back lit display showing a variety of non traditional Best Buy items and a line about shop online for these great products.

Perhaps even a half page in the weekly ad.

Though the "Market Place" seems to have disappeared from the Best Buy web site.  I wonder if some of these items are actually Marketplace resellers

So @Allan-BBY, do ideas from this site go to corporate and potentially get implemented or tested in stores?
A lot of those items that are sold on BB.com have high profit margin and could drive the business.

Sweet, keep me posted if it's something they consider

michaelihardt what is even more significant is they have a lot of products that only reside only as fultillment products and that makes the profit margin even higher.

Best Buy discolved the Marketplace 1Q this year.  It appears they have ramped up the listings of other items.  This may be in response to Amazon, but a good thing.

Best Buy should do something to showcase these other items that are not normally carried in stores.

Perhaps even go bigger and make it part of commercials.

Seems like it would be a decent amount of room for a showcase of online products. I do like the idea though. Perhaps there could be computers in different parts of the store set up where consumers could use them to look on the BestBuy website.

Maybe even create a special search tool to be used and have it similar to Googles "feeling lucky" feature where some of the more unusual and less purchased products could be spotlighted from that.

@AWBrown has a hot addition.  I seperate set of Kiosks or smart client terminals set up for searching.  Now I do believe BB wants you to interact with a staff member to look things up for you but I think this would help customers a lot.

But I like the idea of a NOT ON THE SHELVES but available at BB.com.  Also they could highlght that there is a much larger selection online of in store items.

Example, when I purchased my first gaming laptop I went into 2 different BB stores.  I had been doing my research and was vastly disappointed by the most powerful laptops they had on display.

I was ready to go buy one direct from Dell.  But one more frustrted look online reveiled MSI to me.  I went back in and asked about them and was told that is a brand they don't carry but she thought by the specs they were really good.  So I did some independent research and hit some forums and purchased one. Smooth and easy after that.
