I totally get the want for one, but I also see why it would never work. People could post whatever they wanted and then edit it to be within the forum terms and conditions before somebody from corp saw it. and it wouldn't flag that the thread had a new post so if a customer edited in more info, it wouldn't flag the CC's that something new was there. Just doesn't work in a forum setting.
The ability to edit a post is removed perhaps for security reasons, and to keep consistent with Best Buy TOS when using this forum. Basically if what you have is not friendly for the family it should not be posted at all. But people do make innocent mistakes from time to time, and I can see where a forum feature as such can be abused. However its my understanding on the Lithium Platform that the mods and admins have the ability to see all revisions of a post no matter how many times something was edited.
What I usually do is open up a Note Pad document and then type out my response in there. I check it once and twice before making it live on the forum so I don't have to waste another post adding information.
Hey guys!
Thanks for the recommendation - we have reviewed this option several times since our forum started in 2008, but we do not plan to implement this feature at this time. We understand where it can be helpful with simple revisions; however, we also feel it's important to maintain the integrity of posts and threads, as context can be lost over time if edits are made.
Thank you for sharing your feedback on IdeaX! ![]()
maybe allow for everyone to see the previous edits that way if it's just fixing a typo there aren't several people perplexed on what the OP is stating/asking. There's some wiggle room
