I just received a text message telling me I had won $1000 in a gift card. I read on your site that other people had also had this happen, and that they were concerned. I had specifically asked that that no one be given that number, as I am a victim of domestic violence, and don't want any personal information out there. I sincerely hope that Best Buy respects that. I have concerns, because you obviously gave my number out! I hope no other info was given out- I am technically 'in hiding' and if my address got out, it would be a dangerous situation for me. Any ideas on how to protect your customers?

I don't know wether it was linked or not but I just boughta 800 dollar LED TV at Best Buy at around 4pm and at 7pm I got a text from this scam. Maybe information is somehow being leaked I don't know

I've gotten the text messages as well. Best Buy does NOT have my mobile number. I haven't purchased anything from BestBuy online, and I don't have an account at the store. There is no way Best Buy has my number.
If Best Buy leaked the numbers, I wouldn't have gotten a text.

Cheapest Gamer: Stop being an internet troll! I just bought a iphone...new number and new account. I got the same text message the next day. Dont tell me that Best Buy didnt sell my information...there is a very slim chance that someone could have hacked it in less than 24 hours. If a company does something like selling personal information, when they "say" that they will not, they should pay. Just look at Sony.

This is still going on. I just received a text from phone number 260-920-8849 and it is a scam. Again, the number that sent this text to me was 260-920-8849, just in case someone needed to text that number back. ![]()
