ipad purchase policy

What is the official best buy ipad purchase policy?  Some stores limit 1 per customer per day, some 1 per customer per lifetime, some 1 per customer per month.  Does best buy corporate have any policy set up for the limit per customer?

thagiva –

Thanks for visiting our forums. We appreciate your interest in purchasing the Apple iPad with us! To my knowledge, there is not a corporate wide policy on limiting quantities on the iPad. We leave this up to the stores discretion as every market is different.

Stores do have the discretion to limit quantities on the iPad and any other product. I would recommend contacting your local stores to see if they have any limitations on iPad purchases. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Re: ipad purchase policy

Thanks.  I guess corporate should have a common policy for all stores to show on their letter pad, since each store, from what I know, is not a franchisee who can make their own rules!

Re: ipad purchase policy

I suppose if a person is a BBY Credit Card holder, and they have a family member who isn't, they might offer to purchase a second iPad with their own in order to be able to finance it at 0%. The same could be said for people who perhaps want to get one for each of their (potentially spoiled) children or something. I know a few people who have gotten one for themselves and then their spouse or someone else close to them was so enamoured by it that they wanted one of their own, so they got it as a gift.

Now, if you're buying enough of a quantity that you appear to be a "reseller", then obviously a store has every right to deny you the ability to purchase them over and over again (like one a day for a month or something), as Best Buy B&M stores generally do not sell to resellers.

I'd imagine that the limited quantity and popularity of such an item could cause all manner of purchasing restrictions, however, especially for people whose sole intent upon buying is to "flip" it on an auction site.
