Xbox 360 Product Replacement plan?

I have a Falcon, And it has been good since September, But do Falcons die often? I hear mixed reports saying they are real good, But still RROD, And Some said they RROD just as much as the Xenon models. And when and if my box finaly DOES die, I want to get a Jasper Arcade up at Best Buy, But I heard of a Best Buy replacement plan, Where for $50, You can get it replaced for 2 years, Is that true?

Re: Xbox 360 Product Replacement plan?

BB sells a black tie protection plan for the xbox 360 but that is still no gurantee that you will be able to find a Jasper. I was in a couple of stores this weekend just looking around and neither store had the jasper model. They were all Falcons.

The falcon is supposed to be a much better model, but I still hear reports of the falcon model having the video problem and the RROD.

Xbox magazine had a really good article just recently on how to tell which model is a Falcon and which model is a Jasper.

What is Black Tie Protection? That sounds like a scam compaired to the protection plan

Re: Xbox 360 Product Replacement plan?

I do not work for BB, but there are some very good moderators that can explain it all. The moderators should be around here on Monday.

I'm not very familar with the protection plans since I don't work for BB or very rarely even go into a BB.

Good luck on finding a Jasper model. I have read that they are much better than the falcon model.

Re: Xbox 360 Product Replacement plan?

the geek squad black tie protection plan on the xbox360s covers it for two years. the only things it does not cover is accidental damage, if you were to drop it or spill anything on it.  i work up at customer service at a best buy in wisconsin and i exchange them daily. the plan is a good deal and worth the money actually. with in the first year you can exchange it as many times at needed because best buy only covers the manufacturers warranty but after that first year the plan is fulled if you need to exchange it. the best thing about the plan is that within that first year you can return the plan when you exchange it. the plan becomes prorated and you can purchase a new one to continue for another two years.

I think it is a Scam.  For your money they will...mail the box to Microsoft for you.  That's it.  They claim that they will get a turnaround faster than Microsoft does.  Oh, and it doesn't cover the RRoD.

If you ask me, it's not worth the money.

Most Arcades are not Jaspers.  It's probably safe.

ib67046: So, If I get the black tie plan, and my 360 RROD's, Can I just bring it up like the next day, And tell the guy at the counter it's busted, And I can go grab a brand new one?

What I pla to do, Is if this one dies, Ill get an arcade on the BB credit card, And get the black tie (if it isnt a rip)

Re: Xbox 360 Product Replacement plan?

Hey doomman328,

Best Buy® has offered two different types of additional coverage for Xbox 360 consoles over the past few years: Product Replacement Plans (PRPs) and Geek Squad® Black Tie Protection (GSBTP). Both provide similar benefits, but there are a few key differences between them.

PRPs allowed for an immediate, over-the-counter exchange whenever customers brought a defective product into one of our stores. Geek Squad® technicians would run a series of diagnostics to confirm the failure, and that would be that. Customers could even file claims over the phone through our toll-free hotline (888-539-6883) if there wasn’t a store in their area. These plans, however, were last offered on 09/13/2008.

GSBTP functions a bit differently from its predecessor in that it does not normally allow for an immediate exchange. GSBTP was first offered on 09/14/2008, so all plans purchased after that date would be this type of coverage. Under these plans, Xbox 360 consoles are first exchanged for refurbished models via our Rapid Exchange program. Once a console needs to be exchanged a fourth time then, the “No Lemon” coverage kicks in and the unit is replaced with a brand new one. For a more detailed explanation of this process I would strongly encourage you to check out the following thread:

http://forums.bestbuy.com/bb/board/message?board.id=Warranties&message.id=1434

Like Starflyer59 pointed out though we cannot guarantee that your local store will have Jasper chipset consoles available. As such, the best recommendation that I can make would be to double-check product information listed on boxes to find what you’re looking for.

Hope this helps you out!
