Best Buy & Geek Squad Policies

After dealing with our local store on a one year old x-box, let me tell you the policy.  Your x-box will be exchanged with a unit that's been 'refurbuished'.   Now, you can buy an additional year (read 2 years total) of coverage from Microsoft for 24.99 from their website.  Heck of a lot better deal than Black Tie.  Now Best Buy will say that their's covers power surges and other things that Microsoft doesn't.  DON'T BELIEVE THAT HYPE FOR A SECOND.  Microsoft is going to send you a refurbished unit no matter what the problem- just like Best Buy.  Only no-one knows for sure where Best Buy gets theirs re-furbished.  I won't even get started on the customer service issues...

I apologize about the long delay with our response. This has been a pretty busy holiday season and we have been pretty backed up with customer inquiries.

I'm sorry that you feel this way about our Black Tie Protection, but I'm afraid I have to disagree with you about the coverage. The plan does cover power surge damage which the manufacturer's warranty does not. We also have the rapid exchange service which is faster than the Microsoft option. Our refurbished units are sent out from in-house repairs done by our own Geek Squad technicians, not through a third party.
