What has Happened Best Buy is going downhill !

On 11/24/08 I made $1,700. worth of purchases on my lunch hour.  One of the purchases was a Toshiba Satellite Computer model U405D for $ 949.  The computer was purchased as a birthday gift for someone whose birthday was 11/30.  The following week the computer was on sale for $799.  We sent an email to Best Buy asking if the would refund the difference.  We received an email on 11/8 saying yes.  We brought documents to the Patchogue NY store to get the difference refunded.  THEY REFUSED TO saying first that we had to bring it within 14 days of sale, then after calling the 1-800 Best Buy on my cell I was told by the acting mgr. "Casey" at the refund counter that they only refund on current sales.

800 Best Buy has said they are sending me the difference in a gift card, but that ticks me off since that makes me buy again in Best But.

The store also said it is against their policy to tell me when a general store manager will be on why ?

I am a long time Best Buy shopper with Rewards Card and all, but not sure I will continue buying from them.

I tried to complain to manager and only was able to talk to someone they said was in charge of the department who looked and acted like she was still in HS.  I asked to talk to, as they call them " General Store " manager, was told that person was not their, and as my other board posting states I was told they were not allowed to tell me the next time the General Store manager would be in the

Re: What has Happened Best Buy is going downhill !

KATHYK,

Best Buy has a 14 day price match policy.  If the product you purchased goes on sale during that time it is up to the customer to bring in your receipt to any Best Buy store and we will refund you the difference.  If it has been more than 14 days it is at the discretion of that store weather they will refund the difference or issue store credit.  In the event you talked with 1-888-BESTBUY during the 14 days and you went into a store after your 14 days then you should take it up with 1-888-BESTBUY to have the refund issued.

Re: What has Happened Best Buy is going downhill !

Hello KATHYK,

I’m very sorry to hear about your store experience in seeking a price match.  I certainly do apologize if our policy was not made clear when you received the email reply from Consumer Relations.

Best Buy®’s Price match policy is valid for the return period of the product purchased, in your case 14 days for a computer.  A request for a price match must be made during the term of promotion offering the pricing and the product must be in stock.  The store associate informed you correctly that pricing must be in force when the price match is requested.  You may review the Price Match policy here. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=page&contentId=1118843518460&id=cat12098

I am pleased to hear that Consumer Relations was able to make an exception for you and will be sending you a gift card for the price difference.  I understand that you are disappointed with the way this exception is being made, but our customers truly only qualify for the refund to original mode of purchase during the term of the return period.

I hope this helps clarify our policy.  Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your experience.

Sincerely,
John|Community Connector | Best Buy® Corporate
