UPSET

My sisters and I bought my 85 year old mother a kindle fire for Christmas.  I tried to return it today, because she can't understand how to work it....went to store...Manager said we could not return, my mother was with me.........Asked him for customer service number, he gave to me, I called and talked to lynetta, what a joke, all she wanted to do was argue with me and she hung up on me. What kind of customer service is that....we were 4 days past the return date, only because my mother was not able to come with me to the store.............but I see you have a longer return date for some of your customers..............

Note: Reward Zone Premier Silver members will still receive their extended 45-day return policy on all items. Premier Silver members purchasing any gift between Nov. 13 and Dec. 24, 2011 will qualify for an extended return policy until Feb. 7, 2012.

I am very upset over this, sorry I am not a silver member but we have bought lots of items from your store..............This kindle has only been turned on by my mother , maybe 2 times..........She just can't understand how to use it...........I wanted for her to be able just to read books on it.........None of the other stuff..................how unfair that  she can't return it..................we have the receipt and all original packaging.........................It makes no sense to me how you can let some people return stuff and others can not............I am so upset because it is like now  we gave her nothing for Christmas.............how many more years she will be here for Christmas.........Only God knows....But this was her big gift...........It is not our fault or hers that she can not understand how  to read her books on it........................The manager or customer service. lynetta did not even tried to help me.............Please respond as what you can do for me.............................Thank you

Re: UPSET

So you acknowledge that you're past the return policy and somehow you're upset that they wouldn't break the rules for you? Where do they draw the line? A week, two weeks, a month? What's the point of having policies, then?

Look, I think everyone here is sympathetic of your situation, but the policy is quite clear and it's not fair for you to expect an exception.

The 45 day return policy is for RewardZone Premier Silver members. It's Best Buys way of saying "thank you" to it's best (read: the ones who spend $2,500+ a year) customers.

Any other retailer would do the exact same thing, given the circumstances.

You ALREADY got an extended return policy as a regular Best Buy customer due to the Holiday season. What more can one ask for?

Re: UPSET

With all due respect to the OP, this is not a valid customer service issue.

Re: UPSET

Splitting hairs over spelling is silly. I could do that too since you misspelled "you".

As David said, I'm sure everyone is empathetic towards the situation, but the policy is pretty cut and dry.

Re: UPSET

Sure, just like any business "discriminates" against people with no money, since they can't buy products, right?
