Best Buy & Geek Squad Policies

My local store (Tacoma, WA Store 830) accepts trade-in phones for gift cards. Does it accept e-book readers like the Nook Color? I have called and have gotten conflicting answers.

Hi fdisker2000,

I apologize that you have been getting some conflicting answers when trying to find out if we allow the Nook Color to be traded in at a store.  The simple answer is the store should be allowing trade in’s on eReaders, which includes all forms of the Nook.  There are a few products that can be traded in both online and in store, and they tend to be items that are portable or handheld.  Any other items can only be traded in online.

This is not true. I went to the Best Buy in question and was told that they basically take only phones. A few moments the Geek Squad employee amended  her statement and said they take tablets also but the Nook Color isn't a tablet.

Did they check the computer system?  If not, have them check the computer system to see if it will allow trade ins.  If the employee will not check, ask to speak with a manager.  Hopefully, that'll take care of your situation.

After she told me that they only take phones, she did check the computer. I was  just upset because after checking with the store and getting different answers, I checked here. I went to the store after the representative above assured me that they would take it.
