Trade In Policy

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi that I purchased from Best Buy and would like to trade in at Best Buy for a Canon Digital Rebel T1i.  I am a little leary about sending my camera off to Best Buy.  I would prefer to do the trade in person.  Has anyone traded in a valuable product such as this without incident?

To the Best Buy personnel; I live very close to NYC and can easily trade in my camera in person at B&H or Adorama.

Thanks,

Re: Trade In Policy

You can do the trade instore but like most trade in programs don't expect to get alot of money. You would be better off selling the camera. You will get alot more money that way.

Re: Trade In Policy

There are currently only a few test districts for the in-store trade-in program. I would recommend calling your local BB to find out if they are participating in the test. If they are not, then your only option is to send it in.

Re: Trade In Policy

We're one of those test districts. And so far I don't think any of us have done a trade in. I almost did one but the offer was ridiculous. The system offered them like $30 for a 3 year old laptop.

I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, none of my advice is to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

Re: Trade In Policy

Yeah, the company BB uses gives extremely low estimates for most things. I'd agree with Star in that you should sell it. Think if it like a car. If you trade it in to a dealer, he has to fix it up. If you sell it to a private party, they aren't going to do that.
