Screen protector installation

I purchased a 20 dollar Zagg screen protector from you as well as an 8 dollar "installation service" from someone in geek squad.  I must say I am extremely disappointed in the service I received at my local Best Buy. I sat around for 20 minutes waiting for an available employee (I was one of the only customers there). The guy then spent a good five minutes applying the screen protector, and while everything was correctly aligned after he had finished, there was a small, black, solid bump towards the bottom of the screen that is clearly visible when the screen is both off and on. For a total of 30 dollars, this is the biggest rip off I have ever received.

I have not yet tried to return it, because I was told the bubble would "go away" even though it has been there for two days, but I will definitely be heading in tomorrow. If both the screen protector and the installation fee aren't refunded, I will be filing a report with the BBB. This is simply ridiculous.

Re: Screen protector installation

Keep us informed please. I was going to do the exact same thing that you did. Now I'm afraid to do it. If you went back do you think you'll get your money refunded? I have a Kindle Fire that needs a screen protector but I've been putting it off for just the reason you stated. Maybe I should just try to do it myself.

Re: Screen protector installation

We will see. I would have to assume so. I purchased the installation service because this is exactly what I didn't want to happen. I've purchased five of these screen protectors, and the only time I've successfully had it put on was over at Radio Shack (and they did it for free!). In my opinion, a refund/replacement is the only logical thing to get. After all, they were the ones that incorrectly put it on, not me.

Re: Screen protector installation

Just go back in with your receipt, show it to them, and they'll put another one on.  These things happen.  Usually the blemishes go away, sometimes they don't, but it usually takes a few days to find out if they did.  Geek Squad guarantees their services and if the blemish doesn't go away, they'll put another one one to make sure it's done right.

There's nothing rip offish about this, its just that this blemish didn't go away like usual.  So, just go back in and they'll put another one on.  It's perfectly normal for this to happen, which is why Geek Squad guarantees it by replacing it when these things happen.

Re: Screen protector installation

I install them every day. Very rarely do they have defets on them, but it does happen. Everyone is right, just bring it back in and they will redo it.
My comments and opinions are exactly that, my own. Although I do work for the Geek Squad, I am in no way speaking for, or representing Best Buy as a company.

Re: Screen protector installation

Do I need to bring in the box it came in as well, or can I just come in with the phone and the reciept?

Re: Screen protector installation

Phone and receipt should be fine. They will use the new box to take care of the defective one.

Re: Screen protector installation

I walked in, and I was quickly recognized by one of the employees. (I work at a Subway just down the road and BB employees ALWAYS stop there). After explaining the situation, he apologized for the poor application, and said he'd personally put a new one on for free.

He took his time, but I was in and out in 20 minutes.
