Best Buy & Geek Squad Policies

First and foremost I want to say that I like Best Buy and have nothing against them. I've purchased electronics and a separate TV with no problems or complaints-HOWEVER...

 I'm not very pleased with my last purchase in-store. I saw a display for the Samsung UN55ES8000 and just HAD TO have it. I spent over $3,000.00 (including in-store warranty). The sales rep told me that the only deal they could give me on the TV was a 25% discount on any additional purchases- so I bought an $88.00 Monster power supply.

I took the TV home and after getting it set up I noticed that the Google Maps app had been set to an address 10 miles away from my house...which is weird because I've never used the app.. I also noticed cloudy white marks on the bottom right hand corner whenever the screen is black. I went back to Best Buy a couple days later and looked at their display model and didn't see the marks so I told a rep in Home Entertainment and he told me that I could return my defective and they'll swap it out with a new one. Easy enough, right?

Well last night, I was looking at their newspaper ad and saw that my TV is actually supposed to come with a FREE 3D Blu Ray disc player AND free delivery- and this newspaper ad has been out even before I purchased the TV

I don't know what I'm more frustrated about...

The fact that the inital sales rep didn't tell me about the promotion-yet he was so quick to throw TV equipment at me that he INSISTED I needed.. or that I spent a lot of money on a TV that may have already been used.

The guy who brought my TV to the front said that I would need the Monster power supply and when I took it home and tried plugging my phone charger it didn't work. I tried it in 2 different ones and they didn't work either- so I have an $88.00 power supply that have 3 dead outlets...

I don't know when you bought it but sales run sunday-saturday. It is entirely possible the rep just didn't know about the promotion though that is unusual. As far as the t.v., definitely exchange it if it is defective. Sometimes unscrupulous people box up a return and make it look brand new and tell the cashier it was never opened when making a return and the t.v. looks find with a cursory inspection. The power supply probably works fine. Monster has "green units" that basically only allows all outlets to work if the main one, usually labelled t.v., is plugged in and that item is turned on. When it turns off, it turns off the power to all other outlets to conserve energy. If it really is broken, you can exchange that too. Either way, you can get the t.v. swapped, the power supply swapped if needed, and get your bundle accessories just by going in.

did you end up exchanging your TV? I just went through 4 of the ES8000 with the same issues you had and more. These TV's are JUNK!
