Hello,
I am an ex-best buy employee looking for assistance in receiving a refund for 'debt cancellation' charges that I received from HSBC on my RewardZone MasterCard. I opened the account late 2007 at the store where I worked at the time. I was told that since I was an employee, I had to opt in to HSBC's debt cancellation service. I was told that i should just cancel it within a month to avoid charges. A little bit after a month (since I forgot) I cancelled the service through their 1-800 number. The gentleman on the phone was basically begging me not to and telling me all about the advantages, but I interrupted him and cancelled anyways. I received no cancellation number and didn't know I would need one. I found out more than two years later that I was still being charged this monthly fee. I called to tell them my issue and the gentleman sent me some info about what it am do for me. Decided it still was not for me and finally actually got a rep to cancel it for me. I put in a request to view my situation to get a refund through their customer service. About a month later I received a photocopy of my initial contract with the opt-in for the service checked. I was not denying it was checked, but arguing that it was not cancelled when I requested. So I called back again. I told them all this info and was told to write a letter (what company doesn't have an email address for these issues?) to the HSBC insurance dep. I did this about two months ago and haven't heard back. I'm really so tired of this and would really love some assistance.
Thank you for anything you BBY guys can do!

Hello cririuucli,
I apologize for the delay in responding to your post. It was truly disappointing to read that you had been informed that you might have been informed that you had to enroll in the debt cancellation as an employee, and that you have had so many difficulties in getting this cancelled since then.
If you had been informed that you had to sign up for the debt cancellation on your Reward Zone MasterCard I apologize, as I am not aware of this being a requirement for employees. It does trouble me that the when you had called to cancel the services however, that this was not done. I would like to look into this further with you and HSBC to determine what is happening with the cancellation and if there are any options at this time. To do so however, I would need you to send me a private message with the name and phone number listed on the account. To send me a private message, you can simply use the link in my signature below.
Sincerely,
