Hello..

I purchased an item yesterday May 6th 2012, and the item didn't work so I returned it to the store & got a refund today 5-7-2012 it was put back onto my debit card I used, the question I have is when will I see the $270 back on my debit, will it be 5 - 7 days? Reason why I asked was willing to purchase something else and would have to wait till it gets back on my card.

Typically you see it credit within 3 days and then sometimes banks don't release the funds immediately. Personally when I have made returns at bb, it has only taken a day or two tops.

I thought if paid via debit, it is instant, vs the credit route.  I know when I "pay" by debit, it comes out of bank immediately.  Hmm.

It should be instant, but I've checked my bank and nothing yet from the return. I went there this morning around 10am and its now 4:40pm on May 7th 2012.

Since no edit button at least I didn't see any, I've read on Best Buy's site that its a 72 hour period on when I should see my refund, if that's the case I think I'm done buying stuff out of Best Buy in general, every other place I've shopped within a day I've seen my refund. The sales clerk I spoke to said it would be instant, not something I would have to wait for.

Hello Gamer2k1, 

I apologize that your refund is taking longer than you were expecting. Just to clarify, once a return is performed on our end, it is instantly sent to your financial institution. Generally speaking, debit card refunds may take 5-7 business days, however, it's all dependent on how quickly your financial institution can process those funds back in your account.

Thank you Justin-BBY for the response. 5 - 7 days is alot more than other stores / companies do, I might just stop buying stuff at Best Buy in general this isn't the first time I've had this issue.

Did you even remotely read what Justin posted? "once a return is performed on our end, it is instantly sent to your financial institution." Instant means right then. It is then up to YOUR financial institution so as in, nothing to do with Best Buy.

Crystal, I did read what he said that and understood the fact of it. I've been in contact with my financial institution and they never recieved anything related to my refund which is why I posted.
