Return item bought with reward points?

So I sent my girlfriend to best buy with $25 worth of my rewards points and some cash to get a case for her Mac, but it doesn't fit. And turns out they no longer carry hard cases to fit that particular model (wish I would have checked before I sent her). So I spent $27.18 cash and $25 reward zone certificate...what happens if I return it? get my cash back and the cert back? All cash back? Just cash and no cert? All in store cash? What? Thanks for your help!!

Re: Return item bought with reward points?

The cert was split. Look on the receipt. The amount listed on the receipt next to the item is the amount of cash back. Underneath it will say rz cert and list the amount for that item. That amount will be put back as points into your account.

Re: Return item bought with reward points?

Actually, it only gets split if there's more than one item on the purchase. The OP only stated that they bought a case with cash and a RZ cert. No mention of any other products during the purchase.

Re: Return item bought with reward points?

Hello zlwilliams7,

When the Mac case is returned, the $25 worth of points will be returned to your account and you will be able to request the points to be reissued.  While, the $21.18 in cash will be returned immediately to who presents the receipt of purchase.

I understand you gave your girlfriend the Reward Zone certificates however, please keep in mind the Reward Zone program rules for any future purchases.

Can I give my reward certificate to a friend or family member?

No. Reward Certificates are not transferable and may only be used by the member to whom they are issued. This means that you may be required to show identification at the time of purchase. Reward Certificates have no cash value

Thank you for your time,

Re: Return item bought with reward points?

I dont really get why they cant be given to someone else. They cant be used anywhere else and it is not like the owner of them can get them back once used. So why is that a rule?

Just like you can't redeem airline miles for other people. The certificates are for the program member only.
