I tried to return a "drum set" that was purchased for an in-law. Best Buy presumes that any item purchased in the month of December must be a "Christmas" gift purchase. How about organized people that purchase January-month birthdays during December? Sorry, no policy exceptions. Also, they looked over the box as if it was a several thousand dollar item (it was $54), presumably looking for a reason not to accept it. The item was in pristine condition and had never been opened. Two people had to ask me if the item was opened, when it was very obvious it had never been opened.
I accepted the gift card/ store credit and it will be the LAST MONEY I ever spend at Best Buy. There are way too many competitors to put up with their horrible policies and poor customer service!!

So the store made an exception return as you were beyond the 30 day return policy and gave you store credit? That was horrible?

This is a public forum. Having employees post gives users quicker answers to their questions.

Your reply is biased!! It was not an " exception," Best Buy still has my money!! They will never see any more of it after this though. Maybe employees should refrain from posting....
Lol how are these replies biased? Half of them aren't even employees! Let's look at the facts here (and please correct me if I am wrong on any of these points):
1. Holiday return period extended from December 26th through January 24th
2. Extended holiday return/exchange policy typed on receipt
3. You brought your item in for return AFTER the return/exchange period
4. Store is holding to policy in denying your return/exchange
5. Store decides to make an exception *gasp* and gives you store credit (store could have easily told you to go pound sand and there would have been nothing you could have done about it except cry)
Ungrateful. Because it's the word of the day.
