I've been told by one Best Buy it was okay to trade in games without a case or manual, but denied by another. What is the official stance on video game trade ins with the game only?

Hi Bigbob317,
Good question! Best Buy requires all the original artwork that came with a game. This means that we do not accept disc-only trade-ins and both the game’s case and instruction manual must be included. The reason for this is fairly simple: we do not have a way to replicate the original box art.
That being said, I apologize if you received any conflicting information from the associates at your local stores. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to let me know. Hey again Bigbob317,
It looks like I stand corrected! A message was sent to all of our stores several weeks ago – one that I appear to have missed – stating that they should accept games without the original case or artwork. Missing artwork doesn’t affect the trade-in value of the game, but store associates will need to take a few additional steps to complete the transaction.
