Re: Delivery Problems

Just bought the Sony 52"Bravia - $1499--- items over $999 delivered free including set/up and removal of one old tv including all packing materials as in ad for that week.

Lo and behold -- my large box with the Sony 52" tv was sitting in dining room --- Driver and helper relplied -- we don't do that -- it is too cold and if you turn it on the unit will nor work well.  Called customer assistance at store -- they backed up the drivers story.  My $99 value delivery was cut short because of delivery temperature.... Store manager backed them up too, and was unaware of wording in ad. To no avail -- my son and I did the rest of the process a few hours later when unit warmed up, as store manager would not send someone out to finish advertised delivery and set up process.  The store did pick-up the large shipping box the next day as it was a nuisance. Am wondering about how Best Buy could improve pricing as it took 10 employees from time of sale to time of partial delivery to complete the uncompleted transaction. ps-paid cash--

Re: Delivery Problems

Hey EditEdd,

First of all, let me say congratulations on your recent purchase! Having a new TV delivered is always something to look forward to, and I can certainly imagine how disappointed you must feel if things didn’t turn out exactly as planned. Rest assured though that there is a good reason why our drivers may not power up new TVs that are delivered on particularly cold days.

Like most electronic devices, TVs generally have a set temperature range in which they operate. This range usually lies between 41 °F and 104 °F, but will vary depending upon the model you purchased. Attempting to operate a TV outside of this range not only runs the risk of causing electrical shorts due to condensation, but has even been known to cause damage to screens due to sudden changes in temperature. Simply allowing the TV to adjust to room temperature can help prevent these types of situations - I sincerely apologize, however, if this was not explained at the time of delivery.

If you are still in need of additional assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know. You can send me a private message by clicking on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page and composing a new message to my user name “Aaron-GS.”
