Re: Completely unacceptable

I also puchased a home theater system from best buy in June and had the famous geek squad do the installation problems till this day are still not resolved.

Issue 1 = Geek Squad started installation arrived home from work and found all speaker wiring ran along molding , Fire place and walls. Geek squad tech advised they do not drill thru walls and I must buy wire molding to cover up wires.

Issue 2= Remote control could not be installed same day tech advised he was tired and hungry and wanted to go home. But he did open a ticket to have another tech come back a few days later to program my new MX-810 remote.

Issue 3= Geek squad tech arrives spends several hours at my home and can program the remote advises I would have to upgrade my Direct TV system because it was not compatible. That obviously was untrue after speaking with Direct TV and a Geek Squad special agent.

Issue 4 = Had another Geek squad tech come to my home and try to program the remote a 2nd time remote was programmed and everything seemed fine until the remote stopped working a few hours later.

Issue 5= This is one of my favorite issues. After I had to open yey another ticket with the Geek Squad they finally sent there best tech out to resolve my issue. The tech arrived on site and started looking around my home and wated to know why all my speaker wiring was not concealed in the walls. I advised he the 1st tech out told me Geeek Squad does not drill thru walls or conceals the wiring . He then went to his truck pulled out a camera and started taking picture and sent them to his operation MGM. He told me I should go back down to the best buy where I purchased the system ( Secaucus NJ) and request another dispatch to rerun all the wiring .

Issue 6= Best Buy( Secaucus NJ) was contacted by the tech before I could make it down there and told them I was coming. When I arrived the knew who I was and started scheduling a tech to redo my wiring.

Issue 7= Tech was rescheduled actually the tech who took the pictures found out he is the best tech the geek squad has in the field. He wa sto be out on a Saturday but never showed when I contacted Best Buy I was advised the tech was promoted and no longer in the field. A lovely girl in the store contacted the field supervisor who advised her there was a misunderstanding and a tech would be at my house during the week.

Issue 8= Tech arrives with another tech and starts to redo all the wiring I have to admit they did a great job until I went down stairs in the basement and found the tech laying onto of my duct work causing it to break.

I just realized I have so many issues it would take me the rest of the night to write them all down. I guess in closing the moral of this story is not to use the Geek Squad to install your home theater system. The have no idea what they are doing . By the way it has been 4 Months and I am still having issues and have another tech coming out tomorrow. Just contact the BBB and file a complaint.

Re: Completely unacceptable

Hey tommyf1218,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve had with your recent installation services!  I certainly imagine how frustrating it must be for work to be left unfinished, especially after several service calls.

At this time though, I’m pleased to inform you that Best Buy® currently has someone looking into this situation on your behalf.  If you have not yet been contacted by one of our representatives, you should be contacted shortly.

Thanks for letting us know!
