Re: Appliance delivery....

I wasn't upset over the anti tip bracket. It was the way the person on the phone presented it to me. When I told her we had a concrete sub floor, she said she didn't know whether they'd be able to mount it and they wouldn't know until they got here. She asked what kind of wall we had and I told her it's a firewall because it's the one we share with the unit next door. She said that they may not be able to mount it on the wall either and if they couldnt do that eithert, they were going to leave the stove and not hook it up and we'd have to hook it up ourselves. Had we known this when we purchased the stove, we could have been prepared. You're right, it's not that big of a deal, but if this had been handled better over the phone, I wouldn't have gotten so upset. We waited 3 weeks for the stove because after shopping around a lot of places, this was the one we liked. At least it was handled better at the store level when we went there the next day, although the manager had no idea what we were talking about. He knew nothing about this bracket until he talked to his boss. Needless to say, they will be here shortly and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well. If not, we already have a backup plan to get the stove connected. I'm optimistic that everything will be fine and I'll have my new stove connceted in time for Thanksgiving dinner. As far as the law, I'm going by what we were told.....never heard of it either. BTW, I appreciate all this input. It always help to get feedback on what someone else has experienced.

Re: Appliance delivery....

Just an FYI.........the stove is going back to the warehouse and we're getting a refund. We were on the phone with the store and the warehouse and it had nothing to do with the anti tip bracket....it had to do with the connector hose. This shouldn't have been such a big deal and it's just not worth the aggravation. We're getting someone over tomorrow that's going to hook up the old stove and not even think about another stove until we can get the bad taste out of our mouths. I'm done with BB........if my husband wants to do business with them, he can continue to do so, but I'll never set foot in another store again. This experience is the absolute last straw.

Re: Appliance delivery....

That wasn't me that said it was not that big of a deal. That was 'Falco' that posted that in reply to one of my post'. We too, also, would have been prepared for EVERYTHING, had they told us in the first place & had we known. I agree, our store service was OK, but, it was the way it was handeled from the warehouse phone person! She acted like she was Best Buy. She called ALL the shots! They dumped that stove on us, we hooked it up, but, could not get it leveled properly. Others came in to help & no one could get it leveled! When I called for service to get it leveled, I was to get a phone call again as to a time frame. It didn't happen. That's when we called it a day & went elsewhere to get another stove. At any rate, I hope it all works out for you in time for Thanksgiving. I just now called the warehouse to see what time they're coming tomorrow to pick up the stove & I actually talked to a different person & got an answer!! Maybe, something is starting to roll downhill with these warehouse people!!!! Hey, Falco. If I had a gaggle of kids, I would have got that anti-tip device! Our kids are grown & we don't have any grandchildren, nor do we care for any elderly senile family members.. If we had either,it would be highly unlikely that we would let them climb on a stove or open the oven door & stand on it!!! Good parents, PARENT their kids & watch their every move, making sure they're not even by a stove. Adult children of elderly parents would do the same! In my 66 years of life, I have never had friends or family have a stove tip over. i know about the law suit with another store. It was probably a lawyers kid that did it!! However, I will tell you that many years ago, my nephew pulled out a bottom drawer of a chest of drawers, & the chest fell over on him. He survived. So, why not anti-tip brackets for ALL furniture???? It's not just stoves that aren't safe! What about 'smoke detectors'? Do you think everyone has those? Until somebody comes knocking on my front door about an anti-tip bracket, my over 200 lb. stove that is sqeezed in a very tight space, will stay as is and that was OUR CHOICE!!!!

Re: Appliance delivery....

OMG, Lola, I feel so bad for you. That is what happened to us. BB came in and said "We only connect to a 1/2" valve and you have 3/4". And then, it started! At one point, my hubby also said he would reconnect our old stove. It would have been useless because the oven on my old stove wasn't calibrated right. That was the whole point of us getting a new one. Sure, I could have cooked the turkey, had he done that, but, we might not have able to eat it until Friday. If all else fails, do what we did last year. Take all your guests to Harrahs Casino in Joliet, do a little gambling, go to the wonderful Thanksgiving buffet & pop for dinner ($20.00 per person). No resevations needed & the food was absolutely great. I sure hope you have a good Thanksgiving & isn't it a shame that BB can ruin so many peoples holiday dinners? Imagine all the people that have lost their jobs due to the economy, and the morons at BB still manage to keep theirs!!!!

Re: Appliance delivery....

Thank you, joydee.....luckily our old stove works fine so once it gets hooked up tomorrow, we're back in business. What I don't understand is when I moved in the past, I always took my stove with me and the movers connected the stove.....3 times, to be exact. They never said anything about not being allowed or safety issues or none of that crap. Either you know how to hook it up or your don't. When I spoke to the lady at the warehouse today, she said that a professional had to hook it up or it could result in a gas leak. Then she said they could arrange for someone to come out but they would have to charge us around $130.00. They charge for hauling away the old stove, plus if they have to disconnect it, it's $140.00. I was terrified to have them take away the old stove and leave the new one for fear that whoever we got to hook it up wouldn't do it correctly. I had BB on one phone and her on another and there was so much commotion going on that I just lost it. The guys who delivered it said we needed an adapter and even if my husband would have gone out immediately and got one, they still wouldn't hook it up. They told us we should call someone and have the pipe replaced.....I told them the condo assn. would never approve it. And then I asked my husband what he would have done if I wasn't home and he told me that he would have accepted the delivery, got the adapter and called his son to hook it up........and let me tell you, I didn't feel very good after that. But after reading things that were posted in the forum, I would have done exactly what I did if the same set of circumstances came up. My husband and I will have to agree to disagree on this one. I just cannot believe how BB does business......we've had a couple of issues in the past, but nothing like this. And what's really funny is that I talked to some people about what happened and all of them said that we should find someone else to do business with because they all had bad experiences. They all recommended other places and said they would never do business with BB again. I;ve read horro stories on these forums and never thought it could happen to us. My husband will go to the store by himself tomorrow to get the charges reversed and once that's done, we're finished with them. And after all this, I had to go to work and deal with customers who are doing their holiday shopping.......thank goodness my shift was a good one. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours will be fine......old stove works good.....we just wanted to get a newer stove. Thanks for your feedback.

Re: Appliance delivery....

Smart move on your part.. And for anyone else out there who is foolish enough to keep waiting on Best Buy to correct a problem, you are wasting your time. The best thing you can do is to get your money back and move on. The small difference you may pay in price elsewhere will be more than made up for in customer service. Cheaper does not mean better.
