First off.. I made A purchase of 2 Laptops.. paid right at 2 grand cash altogether.. one of my laptops was a piece of crap.. I tried to return it with my receipt.. they told me all purchases over 250 dollars had to be mailed.. NO I do not believe it should be like this.. if you buy something with cash and have your receipt, you should get your money back right then and there.. Well I called the 1-800 number and they sent me to a supervisor.. he did nothing to help me.. but get smart with me.. I want to know How to get a hold of BRAD ANDERSON.. he should man up and deal with all of these complaints he is getting.. cause I have seen way to many.. and never again will I purchase anything from Best Buy.. Re: RETURN POLICY is WACKED

Good afternoon -

Thank you for your feedback on our return policy concerning cash refunds over $250.  I can understand your point of view, however due to security reasons we are unable to provide refunds over $250 in cash in our locations at this time.  This if for both the security of our customers as well as our employees.  Unfortunately there really is nothing the store could have done further to assist you, however there is no excuse for the poor attitude you describe and for that I do apologize.

If you wish to communicate further in writing with Best Buy®, you can send correspondence to:

Re: RETURN POLICY is WACKED

The return policy has not changed in a long time. That is correct... BBY does not carry that much cash on hand for security purposes. Why is waiting 7-10 for the check such a big deal. It is not that you are not getting your money back, it just takes time. Something to complain about is not getting the money back in a check or credit but getting a gift card or store credit. Yea that would be kinda ouch... We do the things we do for a reason...

Re: RETURN POLICY is WACKED

HEY!~ I understand more of the reasons why now that I have cooled off.. I was reall angry, and irritable.. for the sure fact of just plain rude service.. before I had even mentioned I needed to return my laptop!~ I only started out wanting to exchange.. then it led to RUDE people.. So I really just wanted my money back right then and there to go somewhere else.. My Appologies.. But I do think they should REALLY sort through all the RUDE employees.. if you HATE your JOB then find something else..

(there has also been Rude people on here, in which this is Where we can STATE out OPINIONS, and then get help or UNDERSTANDINGS of WHY)

Re: RETURN POLICY is WHACKED

I have received an email informing me of BBY's return policy. Having read it I went to this site and verified it. I will not shop here again with that type of return policy. If I pay for an item with cash I am not going to wait 10 days for you to mail out my money. I have had my own businesses in the past and would not do that to a customer and I will not have it done to me. Now I see it's because you don't open you safe to take money out. Well you have just lost a customer. Also these restocking fees are nothing more than a way to get into the customers pockets. I have never liked nor approved of these. They are unfair and you can say what you want  about it there is no justification for it. I don't care how many people pull scams, it is unfair to punish all for the actions of a few. I am not going to buy something and take the chance it does not perform the job I intend for it to do, and then only have as little as 75% of the my money refunded.  On a major purchase that is insane. You are running your business on the assumption that most people are dishonest rather than the assumption most are honest. Besides that business should be run as the customer is always right. As I said I have owned my own businesses and that was my attitude in business and I always made a lucrative income for me and my employees. You can too or your not managing your business correctly.

Re: RETURN POLICY is WHACKED

hilander, do you realize how many people return things each day of every week? businesses do what they can to protect their staff and their customers. i for one am pleased that going into a best buy doesn't have to be like shopping at a stop-n-rob. people rob those places for $50, so can you imagine what would happen if Best Buy had a ton of money on hand?

My opinions are my own, and I represent no person or company.

Re: RETURN POLICY is WHACKED

Yes I realize how many people come in there every week. I also know what is good business and what is not. What they utilize is not good business. You must run a business as if you are dealing with honest people, and treat them with respect. If they are so insecure about being robbed this policy is not going to stop them. It doesn't matter if you have $5000 dollars in your till or $5 in your till if someone is going to rob you, they are desperate and don't care. The better bet would be to utilize a safe which can work like an ATM machine where the management can get to the limited amount of money they may be need to refund the amount of the highest priced item they carry. There are also many good security companies where they may hire well trained officers from. The key though is to treat your customers with integrity and respect. Not as if they were criminals. Also not to charge customers outlandish restocking fees. That is and insult to every person who shops there.
