Purchased a laptop from BestBuy

So i had just purchased a laptop from bestbuy (Asus g73) and was so excited to get home to turn it on and get the setup started. But when i got home and turned it on, imagine my dismay when i realized that setup was already completed, the computer was already registered, (win7 setup was done). At first i thought nothing of it, but then i remembered that the sales rep i spoke to said that the laptop was brand new and had never been touched before. If it had never been touched before, then why was it already registered under someone elses name?

I am going to return this item tomorrow, and am very dissatisfied with bestbuy at the moment.

Anyone else have this experience?

If it was, no one told me. I asked the person when I was picking it up if it was still factory sealed, brand new untouched. They said it was, but I went home and powered it up only to realize Win7 and the computer had been registered under rain-pc

I would take it back to the store immediately and let them know that. From what I can tell, if it were me doing the return, it sounds like someone bought it, opened it, then somehow resealed it so that it looked like it was still new.

I'd take it back to the store ASAP and let them know what happened, and that you want to return/exchange it for another one, then open it while you're still in store to make sure it doesn't happen again.

No but upon closer inspection of the box, I see the red manufacturer seal sticker was lifted up, so I think someone returned it and bestbuy decided to sell it to me as new. I didn't see the sticker before cuz (like most of the rest of you) I was just excited to go home and use it.

More likely, an unscrupulous customer returned it as new, and an employee didn't catch that it was opened.

I just got it returned. I wish they had another model tho, that laptop was really nice. Thanks for the responses everyone
