Price match ?

If an item is on sale for the same price @ ToysRus both instore & online but it's not listed in their weekly ad. Can't I just show BB CS the price on my iPhone so they can call my local ToysRus(3 miles away) to both confirm the price & that it's in stock to receive the price match?

Re: Price match ?

Its really up to the store. Technically it has to be a printed price, but they may do the price match anyway if they can verify stock and price. I would call the store and ask.

As a former employee of Best Buy my opinions are my opinions, and not those of Best Buy.

Re: Price match ?

"Technically it has to be a printed price" puzzling

How do I request a Price Match from a Best Buy Retail Store?
When making a purchase, or during the return and exchange period after your purchase from a Best Buy Retail Store, please talk to a Customer Specialist or go to the Customer Service desk for help with your Price Match request. Please bring proof of the lower price that is still in effect that you want the Best Buy Retail Store to price match.

"Please bring proof" ie show that the other store has the cheaper price

How do I show "proof" of price?
The best way to show proof of price is to bring in the competitor's current ad. We may call the competitor's retail store to verify the lower price and availability of the item.

"The best way" is to bring the ad but clearly not the ONLY way just by the wording. If it said "we only price match competitors ads" then there's no exception needed. So what are the other acceptable ways to get a pm?
1-Tell CS that store a has ___ cheaper
2-Show CS a pic of the item in stock & sale tag/sign...they still need to verify obviously.
3-Bring In a website printout from TRU's website.
4-Show the item on TRU's website on a smartphone.

Re: Price match ?

3 and 4 wouldn't work, since Best Buy doesn't match online pricing ("Best Buy does not match ... the website prices of our local retail competitors' stores.")

Re: Price match ?

3 & 4
ok let's think this one out step by step if I go into BB & just say hey TRU has ___ on sale for ____. Now the cashier looks it up ONLINE using their register & they confirm the price then I get the price match. But if I show them the SAME item on the SAME site they won't match it.
Let me be clear this is not an "online only" offer & the physical store is less than 1 mile from the BB.

Also, my question still hasn't been answered what are the other ways to "show proof" for a pm.

Re: Price match ?

Call T-R-U from BBY and have them talk to each other about stock and pricing.

Or go to T-R-U, purchase the item, take your receipt to BBY, and use that as proof of price. Then return the T-R-U item.

Re: Price match ?

Let my make sure I'm understanding this with your statement
"Or go to T-R-U, purchase the item, take your receipt to BBY, and use that as proof of price. Then return the T-R-U item."

BestBuy's slogan would be "go buy at our competition then bring us the receipt & we'll match it then take it back" so smooth so simple. And with gas being $3.50/gal that'll go over well right.

I've done this before but only b/c I knew the item was in high demand & the other store was very close but this obviously wouldn't be the reasonable way to go about getting a standard price match.

Re: Price match ?

You're trying to price-match something that's not listed in the weekly print ad. There's not really much of anything "standard" about the price match you're trying to achieve, and you asked for other ways to show proof of price. The recommendation I provided was one way to show proof of price.

Re: Price match ?

BestBuy carries a huge assortment of items there's no way them or another store will be able to have all the items on sale listed in an ad. So it seems there would be a much more shall we say customer friendly way then to tell the shop elsewhere then come back b/c alot of people WON'T come back. People shop differently now & BB acknowledged this in their press release stating that pricing is more "transparent" customers look up the prices while in the store either on their smartphone or BB's PC's in-store. When they find a lower price @ that point you want them to leave & then hopefully come back as opposed to just showing the price makes no sense & would be unproductive.

Re: Price match ?

Then again best buy is a business. I mean if I were them I'd take margin (profit) over revenue. If price matching means I take a negative hit in margin, then I don't do it. A lot of the time other retailers will have items on sale below what they cost because the manufacturer of that product is going to reimburse them for selling the product thats advertised or whatnot and so for that reseller they wont lose money or they will actually make some money. So since Best Buy doesnt get that kickback that the other retailer is getting, what business sence does that make? You're right-none.
