Price Match ambiguity

[ Edited ]

I read your PM policy here:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Help-Topics/Best-Buy-Retail-Store-Price-Match-Guarantee/pcmcat2044000500...

Called the store and asked very specifcally if BB price matched Costco. The guy said crystal clear that they did. I drive to Costco  Best Buy, spend 20 minutes talking to a salesperson.

He told me finally that you guys do not PM Costco.

Wait a minute... No where in your TOS, does it say that you dont price match Costco or other membership retailers. I have to say, this is the reason why I dont shop as BB anymore. Your prices are just... terrible quite honestly. It is like you guys are afraid of the competition because e-retailers like Amazon are gaining. mometum.

After talking to the manager, he told me that this has always been store policy. Oh really, where does it say that now? Even when I showed the policy page to him, he even had the audacity to tell me I was wrong. What an idiot. I will never come to your store again.

Re: Price Match ambiguity

Costco is a membership warehouse.  Because of the membership fees the stores can offer cheaper products.  The reason BB does not match places like Costco is because it is not a true price.

Incorrect Advasync. BB does PM Costco, Sam's, and other membership retailers. I still don't understand the OP, though.

Re: Price Match ambiguity

Really?  Ok.  I am in the same boat as the OP then.  When I tried to do a pm on a costco for a monitor I too was turned away.

Re: Price Match ambiguity

I really think it depends on who you talk to. Plenty of people have told me that BB managers were able to PM Costco, Sams Club, etc. I just dont get why they make up BS saying its store policy when it clearly  is not written on their website.

Re: Price Match ambiguity

Just out of curiosity, what was the item and what was the price differences between the two?

Re: Price Match ambiguity

Pretty large difference. Take note that I never mentioned pricing during my conversation betweeen the sales rep, so price was never an issue. All I asked was "Do you PM costco?"

The item at hand was a LG 42LD550, an obsolete 2010 model. BB was still selling it at list price (very inflated price) at $999.99

Costco had it for 549.99.
