Price Match Policy lies!

We were told we had a 60 day price match policy...we purchased our Samsung HDTV on 9/27/2008 for $1499.00

Today, 11/25/2008...60 days later it sells for $1399.00.  My husband went to a Best Buy store with our original receipt to get the credit.  First an employee told him they only have a 30-day policy.  Then the manager said he "couldn't get the computer to accept the refund"  and offered my husband a $100 gift card.  He said that would be fine if they would use the $100 gift card as payment on our balance...of course Besy Buy would not do this.

I'm sorry - but this is not the way to do business & from what I can see on the forum, it's a common occurrence.  The solution of offering a gift card just keeps the money in their hands & does NOT honor their POLICY.

So it ends up they only refunded us $25 - somehow the computer was capable of doing this but not $100.  I will be making another trip to the store this evening to speak with another manager.  I'm not sure how they justify this when the bottom line is the TV was once $1499 and now it is $1399 - that is $100 by my math!

Re: Price Match Policy lies!

If you purchased the TV through the Best Buy credit card, the gift card terms and conditions do not allow you to apply the balance of a gift card towards payment of a Best Buy credit card bill :smileyhappy:

Re: Price Match Policy lies!

Yes - I am aware of that.  However, they should not be offering us a $100 gift card, they should be honoring their price match policy and crediting our account $100.00

Re: Price Match Policy lies!

Hey UnHappy1,

You are correct in understanding that the price match period for HDTV’s purchased on 09/27/2008 was 60 days – I briefly covered the policy’s history in this thread. I’m sorry to hear though that you may have had difficulty obtaining one at your local store.  While I cannot provide you with an explanation why a manager would have difficulty processing a price match, I would be glad to help you find a resolution to this issue.

Re: Price Match Policy lies!

Aaron:  Can you help?  I purchased a Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS as a Christmas present for my wife, on Oct. 29 for $499.00.  I was going to wait until Dec., but was assured by the sales rep that the item would probably not go down in price before Christmas.  This morning, Thanksgiving day, I see an add at the same store for the item on sale at $349.00, a $150.00 difference.  I am not happy and want to return the item to the store.  Do I have options here.

Thanks

Re: Price Match Policy lies!

Hey brookslynn,

While Best Buy® does offer a standard 30-day price match period for all GPS units we sell, we are unfortunately not able to honor price matches on any of the offers listed in our Thanksgiving Day advertisement.  Additionally, neither our retail stores nor BestBuy.com are able to honor competitor’s pricing for products on sale November 28th and 29th.  For more information, please see our Thanksgiving Day Ad FAQ located on BestBuy.com.

Thanks,
