Bought the Phillips BDP3406 online from Best Buy in November 2011, in the past two weeks (3 months later), it refuses to recognize DVDs. I currently don't have any Blu-Ray Discs to test if it is just DVDs, BUT it is also a DVD player and should recognize. I understand that this is after the 30 return policy, and I was wondering what my options are? Do you have any fix ideas? I have tried multiple DVDs, different TVs, turned off, unplugged, factory settings reset, and I just don't know what to do!!!
Help!
Thanks!

Have you tried a lens cleaning disc yet?

Blu ray players have two lasers in them. One for Blu ray discs, the other for DVD's. So if the cleaning disc doesn't work, the laser that reads DVD's may have failed.

Hello jadewolf,
Those are great suggestions! Make sure to update the firmware as well on the system. If none of these options work, then we'll be happy to send the unit out for repair under the manufacturers warranty. Just bring it to the Geek Squad precinct at your local store.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Sadly none of the suggestions worked. I tried the cleaning CD and the player didn't recognize that I put a disc in, tried a Blu-Ray disk and it said "Unrecognized disc".
When I take it in to best buy, do I need to bring anything with me?

Hello jadewolf,
Bring just the product and the original receipt. The store can find the receipt information under your phone number if you don't have it.
