Pattern of being Tardy behavior--suggest not waiting for Best Buy deliveries if you value your time

As I wait for my Columbus, OH delivery that was going on several hours ago, I noticed a pattern of behavior.  I received a call from the delivery guy very early in to my wait saying he would be late.  This is appreciated, although their actual arrival time over-shot the adjusted time as well.  This seemed to be a common complaint in my search during my wait.  As the internet is a tool for finding this kind of behavior, I feel it is duty to post so others do not necessarily feel weighed down with losing a day waiting for a delivery.  Frankly speaking, were I to order from Best Buy again, I would go about my daily plans after the scheduled time.  With such a pattern of poor planning (or execution of the delivery schedule), I do not feel obligated to stress myself out.

As just a note, I was also annoyed by the jestures made when I requested the delivery guys to take off their shoes.  I understand the danger of dropping an 80 lbs TV on their toes and offered an alternative to carrying as well as new hotel-style slippers.  They did take them off, but not after what I consider poor customer interaction by seeming angery at the request.  Considering they were in the house for no more than 60 seconds, it didn't throw their schedule off by much.

Edit: Now that I am trying to get the bohemoth out of the box. I would have appreciated an extra second by them to make sure there were no damages.

I am very confused by your post! From what I understood your delivery team was running late, but called to let you know that, and that you asked them to take off their shoes, and they did! I'm not sure that your post is clear enough to understand you issue.

Many of the delivery people wear steel-toed boots to protect their feet.

They were wearing tennis shoes.  I am also aware of OSHA and carrying heavy items.  It is why I offered an alternative.

In response to both posts, my issue with the shoes was the response.  While it is an Asian custom that I do not expect everyone to necessarily be sensitive to, I do not expect eye rolls and lip smacks in frustrations to my request regarding this.

And a phone call letting me know they are late will not be acceptable next time I order from Best Buy.  Frankly, an entire day was wasted waiting.  I would advise anyone with a tight schedule to demand more.  I will tell them to take it back to the warehouse and ship it again until they can meet their own timeline.  I won't spend 5 hours waiting on their 2 hour window that they cannot maintain

Re: Pattern of being Tardy behavior--suggest not waiting for Best Buy deliveries if you value your t

Hello danehoy,

First of all let me say congratulations on your recent purchase!  Picking out a new TV is always an exciting event, and I can imagine how anxious you must have felt for it to be delivered to your home.  I’m not quite sure why you would have experienced any difficulties with our delivery staff though, especially if you had taken the time to explain why visitors to your home are asked to remove their shoes and to discuss alternative solutions.  I would be equally disappointed in a similar situation.

As far your delivery window is concerned, please remember that while Best Buy® strives to ensure that each delivery is completed within the originally quoted timeframe, traffic conditions and other unforeseeable circumstances may ultimately contribute to later-than-expected delivery.  In the event that such circumstances arise then, we make every attempt to notify customers of the delay and to deliver their product(s) as soon as possible.

That aside, I hope you are enjoying the new TV!  If you have any additional questions, however, please feel free to let me know.  You can send me a private message by signing into the forums and then clicking on either my signature below or the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

They should have taken the tv out of the box during the Basic TV Delivery from the warehouse.  They should have taken it out of the box, put it onto an existing stand, and plugged it into 1 source.

Nothing I post is an official statment of Best Buy or Geek Squad, it is only a helpful opinion!
