New return policy

So I bought my iPad 2 feb 9 and just saw best buy has a new return policy for everything 30 days... Does this mean I can take my iPad 2 back and get a refund? Or is it just for items bought under the new policy? Confused...

Re: New return policy

The new policy is not retroactive. Since there was a 14-day policy in place when you purchased your iPad 2, you are still limited to the 14 days.

Re: New return policy

That is bs and he knows it, they're policy is now 30 days , that doesn't mean 30 days unless you purchased something before it changed , it means 30 days.unless they have it in writing in the current policy that anything purchased before it changed is subject to the policy at that time,

Re: New return policy

Nope, Dan is right. All items purchased during the old return policy are subject to that policy, not the new one. And I would think its implied that your are subject to the policies in place at the time of purchase. Like when Verizon did the the switch that made everyone doing an upgrade(essentially a new contract)/new contract have a data package. They couldn't make those who weren't agreeing to a new contract because that policy wasn't in place when they signed their original.

Re: New return policy

Its not implied , and the verizon deal was becasue of contracts, and last i checked policy is not a contract.

Re: New return policy

Last I checked is that policy is whatever BBY makes it. They said it isn't retroactive, so that ends discussion.

To the OP sorry about how the events played out. I know it is probably annoying to see this happen, but you bought it with the knowledge of it being 14 days. You can always try talking to your local store that you purchased it as they are able to break policy, just don't expect them to.

Re: New return policy

I am also in the same boat. Purchased new iPad for grand, thinking I had 30 days to return of if I found a better price that I could return or get the difference in the price.. Screwed by Best buy, thinking this will be my last purchase from bb. Walmart has abetter return policy and no questions. There are other retailers out there.

Re: New return policy

The unfortunate thing is that you are limited to that 14 day return  policy because you purchased before the new policy took place. If you refer to the back of your receipt from your original purchase it will detail that policy. And like previous contributers have already added, it is not retroactive.

Upset about something you didn't even know existed until after you made your purchase...understandable.
