My dad took our 2000 Solara in for a new CD Player and speakers at Best Buy in Waterloo, Iowa.. After coming back the dash light is not working, he took it back and was told it was not related to the CD player installation.
He took it to local toyota dealer, they couldn't figure out what's the problem and charged him $27 for the initial diagnose, further work will cost$85/hour to check electricity.
With the new CD player installed by best buy, the fuse controlling dash ligh is constantly blown, if we put in a new one, it's blown instantly.
When i was visiting him last weekend from out of town, I removed the CD player, we put in a new fuse, and dashboard is working again. so obviously the CD hookup is wrong and causing the fuse to blow and dashboard light to not working. From what we read online, the two orange wires from the CD player should be capped off (instead of hooked up to the harness). We took the car back to Best Buy, and I mentioned that to the technician doing installation, he capped off the two orange wires, put it back in, and now all is well.
This could cost hundreds of dollars for dealers to look at it. if I didn't remove the CD myself and doing research online to find out what's wrong with it. Best buy should hire more experienced installers, and stand behind their installation. I find it unprofessional they did a bad installation with very basic mistake -connect wires they shouldn't, then refuse to admit responsibility after a bad installation. In fact they kept saying it was due to some sub woofer wiring previously. I had the subwoofer put in ten years ago and the dash board light has never went out prior to the Best Buy installation!
I'd like to Best Buy to pickup the $27 tab, which could easily be hundreds of dollars, if we had dealer do a full diagnostics to fix what they broke, not to mention hours of wasted time and effort to fix the broken dash light due to the bad installation.
I believe best buy need to hire a bit more experienced installers, because if it's not done right the first time, people end up fixing it at car dealers and Best Buy would end up paying for it. they have had a lot of issues with mobile audio installations from what I read in this forum.
Can someone from Best Buy help me with getting this dismal $27 dealer billed reimbursed so we can see best buy at least cares about their customers? ![]()

i didn't know the fonts came out so big, but there are no way to edit it.. feel free to delete it. ha
I'm not looking for hundreds or thousands back, I just want to get a lousy $27 refund.. and I think we have saved bestbuy money by fixing the problem myself through DIY videos online.
