Hi,
I ordered the LN46B640 on 12/28. I was told it would be delivered on 1/9 with no indication of any problems. On 1/8 I received an email and phone call saying the delivery date was pushed back to 1/30. I then called the Best Buy customer service center and they said they could change my delivery date to 1/16. I received an email on 1/15 saying my delivery date was updated to 2/6. I called and it was then I learned the TV was on backorder. I received no indication when I bought it that this would be an issue. I am moving on 1/23 and have scheduled everything around receiving this TV. I now have to go through the frustrating process of moving my cable installation which will cause me to miss out on very good savings every month. I was wondering if you could give me an update on when this product will be available. Also, in the future your customers would appreciate knowing an item is on backorder. That way they can make the decision if it is worth the wait or not. Thanks for your time.

Yet another post about this $999 46 Samsung?
One of two things can happen here....you will either get this set when it becomes available, or you can cancel the order. No one is holding this TV hostage. If it was around, it would have been sent to you by now. Because of the attractive price, demand has exceeded supply. No one is under any obligation to inform you of backorder status. There are millions of other TVs out there to choose from.

Thank you for informing me that I can cancel my order. I was not aware of that. My only issue is not being told initially when I called it was on backorder. Also, I appreciate the economics lesson of demand exceeding supply. I realize there are millions of other TVs to choose from and I am willing to wait for this one. I just didn't enjoy not being told intially it was on backorder and instead saying 1/16 it would at my place.
And I believe a business who is customer oriented should inform people of backorder status. But it looks like you are a lawyer, economist, and retail manager all rolled into one person...Amazing.

You know, it's always funny when an obviously intelligent person plays dumb. I'll take your last statement as a compliment, as it isn't totally inaccurate. I hope you find the "deal" you're looking for...somewhere. Regards.

SlimJim I don't understand the unprofessional tone of your reply.
The customer isn't complaining that the TV isn't available or that there is a wait for it being backordered. The complaint is because it wasn't communicated when it was purchased that it was backordered even after rescheduling the delivery. That doesn't sound like an unreasonable complaint.

I have enough time to hold a job and plenty of hobbies, while still helping people in this forum. There are plenty of others with far more post in a shorter span of time.
As for Apathy, I hope otoole04 is paying well for your services. I simply matched the professionalism of the OP.

OP - You may not have been told the TV was on backorder when you initially purchased it b/c it very well may not have been at the time. As far as getting an ETA on the backorder, that will probably not be possible. The reason BB/GS reps over the phones and in the stores don't have ETAs is b/c the MFGs never inform BB/GS of when they are sending another shipment, they just come as they come. Maybe one of the CCs have more insight but unfortunately, I doubt it.
