Kindle fire unresponsive

Bought a brand new kindle fire in El Centro, CA, on Tues. arrived back in the UK on Thurs - for 24 hours it was the best present my son ever had, until this evening it has become totally unresponsive. I have tried multiple hard resets (20 & 30 secs) as instructed by Amazon, none have worked! Amazon also told me as I was outside the USA they would not replace or ship to me, USA only. So I am now left with a $215 dollar present that doesn't work, I was not informed when I purchased the item that I would not be able to replace if faulty - although I truly did not expect it to last only 24 hours. The assistant clearly knew I was not from the USA as we spoke about my British accent and how it was a present for my son as I was returning home on Wed after working in USA for 2 months, plus I was in full British military uniform. So where do I stand now, as this tablet is useless.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Kindle Fire so soon.  Typically I would just say, feel free to bring it back in to your local store and we'll swap it out, but I know that isn't an option for you across the pond.  I would like to touch base with our local management team to see if there are any other options we might have for you. I have the same problem. I'm bringing mine back to the store. How did you make out with yours?
