Re: It's time for Best Buy to improve it customer service.

No one said it was illegal to film on private property. It is against Best Buy store policy to film inside of them whatsoever. It is illegal, however to not stop or/remove yourself from the premise if asked and if the op keeps it up, he will be trespassed by the police and it then will be illegal for them to enter any best buy, regardless of filming. It is private property and as such they can kick anyone out permanently, including the op, and if they have reason, call the police and have them trespassed from Best Buy stores.

Re: It's time for Best Buy to improve it customer service.

I would watch such a film. The problem is that I think that considering your anger about it, it would be unduly biased in one direction. Would this be true?

I'll download the film as soon as it hits torrents.

Re: It's time for Best Buy to improve it customer service.

I am guessing all private property it would be illegal to film inside. If you asked any private property can I fild your customer service so I can make a movie they would say no. So crystal your post is a little off in this situation.

Re: It's time for Best Buy to improve it customer service.

That is incorrect. Here is applicable US law info

Photography/filming on private property that is generally open to the public (e.g., a shopping mall) is usually permitted unless explicitly prohibited by posted signs. Even if no such signs are posted, the property owner or agent can ask a person to stop photographing, and if the person refuses to do so, the owner or can ask the person to leave the property. In some jurisdictions, a person who refuses to leave can be arrested for criminal trespass, and many jurisdictions recognize the common-law right to use reasonable force to remove a trespasser; a person who forcibly resists a lawful removal may be liable for battery, assault, or both.[39]
There are many other laws that would play into the situation by state that add to the legalities of the situation plus the aftermath of legal action that could be taken from such a movie. All in all it really doesn't matter as all the needs to be addressed in this thread is the stores unwillingness to look up a receipt.

Re: It's time for Best Buy to improve it customer service.

Please do not listen to the guy who is quoting the laws.  Do not take legal advice from anyone but a lawyer.  Supersize me is a perfect example of filming a corporation.  There are certain allowances for people making social commentary in regards to privacy rights involving film.  There are thousands of appellate rulings backing me up.  I will take it to there supreme court if i have to and believe me there are organizations that are fighting for the reduction of privacy rights for corporations that would be glad to jump on board.

Since no one in here has bothered to actually read between the lines what I have said is that i had a good experience at the Vallejo store, really good.  Then I got treated like a piece of dirt at the Woodland store.  The Chico store took care if me, and the customer service manager even drove me 39 miles back to my RV.

This is my point:

First of all I never mentioned making a film until after I was out fo the store, after I had been told, "you need to go to the vallejo store to handle this."  I was leaving in the parking lot with the manager following out the door for some reason that has not been exlained.  She continued to jab at me AND THEN i turned around and said I was going to make a film.   THEN she told me I was banned.

When I spoke to the low level corporate guy at the XXX XXX 1000 number--best buys corporate office he called the store to see if I could still make my return, "They told him I was making a scene in the store when I was not.  He put me on hold for 10 minutes.  He came back and told me I was still banned. I told HIM I was going to make a film.  He said, "Go ahead, see if I care."  I said, "OK"

So I had to drive 60 miles north to the Chico store.  On the way to Chico my RV broke down.  I ended up stranded in a parking lot for two days with no cash and an $800 laptop sitting in my vehicle.  I had to take the city bus from Willows to Chico which took three hours.  Then I when I spent so much time making additional purchases that i missed my bus back to my location where I was stuck the customer service manager drove me 39 miles back to my RV.

The issue here is that the Woodland store is making everyone else look bad.

Right now I found a family, their house burned down along with the receipt for there new refrigerator--which was still in the garage.  When they needed funds to survive they tried to return the refrigerator but Best Buy would not help them.  Instead of just going to a motel with the money from the fridge they ended up in a shelter.  I am going to interview them, have then tell me how that made them feel to be trampled upon by a faceless corporation.

Bad customer service creates untold, uncounted problems for people.

I am making this film.  I am not trying to score a blockbuster but I am trying to use the power granted to me with my camera and connections to do something about large corporations who do not take care of their customers.

I am fully capable of showing both sides pf the arguement and it's unfair to assume that I am going to make it slanted and one sided.  My story will not be in the film.

At this point Best buy cost me $200 in extra fuel, 2 days stranded in a very hot part of California sleeping in 100 degrees at night while having MS and being physically ill.  So all of you who have been attacking me this whole time???  As you have mocked me and criticized me I have been living in the street, no money, no food, no one to ask for help ina city I am not from....  screw you.

Re: It's time for Best Buy to improve it customer service.

I'm confused about the whole money thing. In one post, you mention that you have no wages to garnish. In another, you are being lavished with gifts, money, vacations, and meals by studios and celebrities. Now, suddenly, there's no money again.

I guess this is why storyboards are used to help keep plots and story lines consistent...

Re: It's time for Best Buy to improve it customer service.

Yea I am confused as to you sound like you are well off, but then you have issues with money. This sounds pretty odd. Now if you are a film maker, which I am starting to doubt, as anyone can say anything on the internet. I could say I am VP of XYZ company. If you are a successful film maker, what are some of the films you have produced?

So you can say all you want on here, but in reality who knows if you are really just making all this up.

Oh yea Bill Gates called me today.

Re: It's time for Best Buy to improve it customer service.

I generally find that people who doubt someone else because they think that someoen is lying are often supplanting their own behavior on others.  Just because YOU tell stories does not mean I do.

Do you know how expensive what I do is?  I'm not saying this because I am trying to say I am rich, or promote myself to be anything special.  I'm saying this because you are questioning my credibility right now.  While i do have money for my productions--sposorships and such--I cannot cross collateralize projects--or my life for that matter by taking money from a project to take care of my personal issues.

As for plot narriative or depth of character...  I don't have money right now because when the California Amtrak Zephyr train/semi accident happen I traveled to Sparks Nevada to film the aftermath of the accident while the bodies were still on the ground.  I took every penny I had to my name personally, used it to make a video to raise funds for the families and victims of the accident.

You can judge me all you want, pick me apart, do whatever, it means nothing.

Re: It's time for Best Buy to improve it customer service.

Again what are the names of films you have produce since you are so successful? I did not doubt you as I supported you to begin with. As I said you can say whatever you want on the internet and it shows nothing. So still waiting for the answer.
