I remember reading something before on this forum that a customer is allowed a certain number of returns without the receipt.
I don't think people should be trying to return something that was won in a charity giveaway..but overall what I think really doesn't matter.

That is not the case Starflyer, we need to be able to pull up and return the item from the transaction. Without the receipt we cannot do this.

Thanks Adam. i just remember a moderator saying that every customer is allowed a certain number of returns a year without a receipt.

I believe that's in the cases where we have the transaction, but the customer does not have the receipt. Or... something.
In any event. I quote from the back of my Coke receipt: Your original receipt is required for all returns, exchanges, price matches and warranty repair services.
How do I know that some random person walking up to me with an iPod didn't just snatch it from the shelf and open it? It's for our protection, and the consumer's.

Thankfully the REAL Best Buy customer service reps are more helpful and understanding the the posters. I came back to the forum to commend Best Buy for resolving my issue and personally calling me to handle. Thank you for your personal assistance and reviving my faith in Best Buy. We only wanted to spend MORE money, and you have made sure I can do that Two little girls will be very happy when my daughter gets her Touch Ipod and they will be able to talk without fighting for computer time to chat. Best Buy TRUE reps are the BEST!
