I knew what I wanted my first laptop to have and didn't get it after the Best Buy salesperson told me it had everything I asked for. 

Nov of '08 I went to Best Buy shopping for my first laptop.  I was having knee replacement in Dec and knew I would be imoblie for awhile and needed computer access.  I would of liked infrared but could get by without it. The most important thing was Bluetooth.  I was told all the late model computers had it and that this one did.  I had one picked out that advertised Bluetooth, but the clerk talked me out of it.  He said it would be silly to buy the one I was looking at as they were running a special for basicly the same computer but it came with a free printer which I really didn't need.  So he said I could give it to someone or use it as a back up.  After much discussion I bought it.  Not having any use for the Bluetooth feature until now when I went and bought my new cellphone with Bluetooth capabilities as this is why I wanted a computer with this feature as I take alot of photos and wanted an easy way to transfer to my  computer.  Well, imagine how I feel after going back and forth with an HP support rep for 2 days and finally finding out that I don't have it.  Here is the specs and as you can see it's not there. By the way these specs had to be sent to me from the HP site as they weren't in the box. 

Why would anyone sell me something that wasn't what I asked for?  I did all the research and thought all I had to do was go in and tell them that this is what I'm looking for and what do you have. 

What do I do now?  I am so upset that I spent money on something that does not meet my needs just because a Best Buy sales person told me that this had everything that I wanted.  Is there anything that can be done?  Who do I talk to?

A bluetooth module is usually very easy and very cheap to add to a laptop.

Since it was November 2008 you are pretty much stuck with the laptop. 

You pretty much have two choices.

1. Add a bluetooth module

2. Sell the laptop and buy another one.

Yes, my cell has a memory card, but my laptop doesn't seem to have a place to put it.

Also I gave my other cell phone to our son and that one has infra red so he would be able to get them off if I could find and Infra red Dongle.  I never was able to get the pictures off that camera as I never had the infra red capabilities and never heard of a dongle until now.

That seems like your fault bro.  You knew the item you were buying didn't have bluetooth yet YOU chose to ignore that truth. 

Do what the rest of us do when our laptops/electronic devices don't match up to our needs... upgrade/replace/etc!

For instance, I don't have HDMI on my current laptop so I have been scouring the internet for a expresscard HDMI card.  Lucky for you, bluetooth "dongles" are easy to find and cheap.  Buck up and spend the 20-30 bucks and be done with it.

There is a spec sheet for everything right in front of you. 

"Bro" is a colloquialism, not a designation that you are my brother, yet you think you have somehow slighted me by making that obvious statement.  Good for you. 

I'm simply pointing out that you should take more responsibility for yourself rather than pushing it onto others.  IMO, this is akin to all those people who took out mortgages that they couldn't afford. 

You chose this venue for voicing your anger with Best Buy, and it is a public forum.  I gave my 2 cents based on your rant, as can and should be expected.

So you KNEW it didn't have bluetooth and YOU allowed yourself to be talked out of it.  Don't be disingenuous.  This is your fault, and you are angry that you allowed yourself to be swayed by someone who I admit shouldn't have made such an assumption. In the end, however, it was your purchase and you made it knowing all of the information.

Because I want to be helpful and I feel that perhaps I've been too abrasive, here are some items that you might want to check out to solve your problem.

The first is very small and you could probably leave it in the laptop perpetually without noticing.  The second is more obtrusive but it is also 10 dollars cheaper.  Both are priced less than 50 bucks, tax included.  For the price break you got on the original model (not sure how much, you didn't disclose) this might be a drop in the bucket!  Who knows...
