Hard Drive return policy??

Can you return a formatted hard drive if you purchased it within the thrity days??

Yes just bring the drive and the original packaging back to the store with you. You have 30 days from the date of purchase.

----------ALWAYS check your purchased items for damage before leaving the store. If you never leave the store and check it in front of a employee it removes all doubt that you might have damaged the item.----------

A store-bought hard drive should have been blank when it was purchased.

Are you talking about a hard drive, or a full computer? Full computers have different return policies and timeframes, including the potential for a restocking fee...

Sorry, I'm talking about an external hard drive. It came with programs to instal for back up plans and stuff like that.

You should still be ok. Best Buy doesnt just put it back out on the shelf anyways. it usually gets sent back to the manufacturer.

To clarify, as long as everything that was initially included in the package is still there, you should be okay. That is, if the drive came with CDs or DVDs of the backup software, you don't have to re-install it, but you DO have to include the discs in the package when you return it.

Alright, peace of mind has been accomplished! Thank you guys for answering! Knowing that they don't put it back on the shelves helps a lot, and it didn't come with a CD so I should be good there. Thanks!
